Shoot.  This day has gone from bad to worse.  First, the Blackhawks (ah, Sport) lay an egg against the Red Wings this afternoon.  Now: apparently, North Korea just did a nuclear test.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall when Rahm Emanuel got the news.  The motherfucker-per-minute gauge must be redlining.

UPDATE: USGS survey says… Magnitude 4.7 temblor in northeastern North Korea — fairly close to Sea of Japan — at about 2055 EDT tonight.  Which, for those of us with experience with West Coast earthquakes, is hardly worth writing home about.  But still — this looks like it is for real.  Per AP/MSNBC: State Department knows nothing yet.

This is the Guggenheim museum in New York City.  It will turn 50 years old in October. Also, it recently underwent a complete exterior restoration.  It looks great, but I have no idea about the inside. When we went today to see the exhibit associated with the anniversary, the line was around the block.  Even the line to renew my lapsed membership was long, so we’ll give it a try closer to the end of the exhibition, August 23, 2009.

When we heard that Chicago right-wing shock jock Erich “Mancow” Muller had himself waterboarded Friday morning — and immediately declared it “torture” — we thought it was significant. Not that we need Mancow to instruct us on the Geneva Conventions, American law, or centuries of jurisprudence, but we figured that a former frequent flyer on Fox & Friends might reach corners of the electorate that even Shep Smith can’t rouse.

We were wrong.

We looked — hard — for examples of wingnut reaction to post here, but of the pages and pages of Google links, everyone excited about yesterday’s video seems to have “blue” somewhere in the title.
