You will readily admit that so far Cocktober has, well, stunque. It’s only a glimmer, but:

Congressman Virgil Goode (R-VA) arranged a $150,000 Congressional earmark for a non-profit theater with close personal ties to his press secretary and the producer of a movie featuring gay sex scenes and heavy drug use, PageOneQ has learned.

It gets more interesting:

Who knew that Linwood Duncan, the unassuming press secretary for Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Va.), has been dabbling in acting on the side and turns up with a bit part in the new movie “Eden’s Curve”?

Goode’s press secretary acted in a naughty movie.  Jump.

That’s not the headline we wanted to use, but cursing isn’t welcome with search engines. Or maybe that’s just our mother, who, if she’s lurking, our brother did it.

Anyway, after Barry called out McCain as a chickenshit (hi, Mom!) for not mentioning Ayers to his face last week, McCain is promising not to pal around this time. As long as Bob brings it up. See, Tom didn’t ask about it, that’s why McCain didn’t say anything. Never mind that he managed to announce a major economic program just seven minutes after the opening bell.

(No, not yesterday’s major economic program. The one before that. Don’t worry, he’ll have a new one next week.)

Later, Ron and Grapes* will talk about how Ken Dryden was not that great a goalie, and why Gilles Duceppe is a pussy for wearing a visor.  But first: Doug, go!

Koo-loo-koo-koo-koo-koo-koo-koo!

* “Grapes” = Don Cherry, former head coach of the Boston Bruins, co-host (w/ Ron MacLean) of Coach’s Corner on Hockey Night in Canada, protector of “kids!” who play hockey per tips and tricks during said Corner, fairly conservative guy. Almost became viceroy. Really.

Blogger John Cole was a believer in Peak Wingnut, but I never have been.  One reason is that I know the scope and depth of the Wingnut supply. Also, as we have learned in recent weeks, there is a huge untapped source of Wingnut in Alaska. It’s also the case that, for every major wingnut, there are at least ten thousand minor-league wingers out there spouting nonsense.

Another factor is the ability of right-wingers to snap back into form after saying something that almost makes sense.  Consider David Frum, who I wrote about only yesterdayLast night on MSNBC:

From his first answer, however, it was clear Frum had a very different agenda: to attack Rachel Maddow. Discussing the “ugliness of tone” in American politics, he said that Maddow’s show, “unfortunately, is itself an example of that problem.” He then compared her tone to the hateful outbursts of some McCain-Palin supporters:

Exchange after the jump.

Well, then.  Stanley Kurtz of the National Review has scoured the files of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and come up with…. jack squat. Extremely tangential, at its best.  Homofascist’s wedding story, below, has more heft.  As is usually the case.  Please read his story, then mine.  Kthxbai.

Your HF may have had a few drinks before this photo. We won't get into the 'Living On A Prayer' incident.

After many drinks, but before the 'Living On A Prayer' incident

So, in case the Earth split open and belched out some sulfurous hellfire around where you live this weekend, or if you were caught wrestling with some fire-breathing wolf demon summoned from the 7th circle around, oh, say 11:15 am CST on Saturday, that would be my fault.  Oopsie!!!  You see my father was married around that time, in a god damned CATHOLIC church, and your very own homofascist read scripture.  Out loud.  To churchy people.  It was, needless to say, my first time which is a line I am not able to use often.  Besides getting my ass kicked at work, I have spent the last three weeks trying to pronounce the word ‘Colossians’ correctly on the first try.  You have no idea.

Like many Americans, Sarah Palin has had to take a low-paying second job recently to make ends meet, as a greeter for a failing hate merchant.

And it was while she was going about her business of saving the Republic from terrorist pals Monday that shouts broke out from the back of the crowd she was haranguing.
