“Latinos for Reform” had planned to pay Univision $80,000 to run this ad (it’s also in Spanish) advising Nevada Hispanics that the best way to exercise their franchise is to stay en la casa on Election Day. Latinos for Reform may or may not be funded by — surprise! — the Swift Boat folks.

In the event, Univision said no gracias. But really, if they want to help Sharron Angle, shouldn’t the ads have been in Chinese?

Ladies and gentlemen, from Monday night’s New York governor debate, Mr. Jimmy McMillan of the Rent is Too Damn High Party. Enjoy the party website at your peril.

Folks today are twittering about an apparent gaffe by Christine O’Donnell at a morning (yes, morning) debate:

Coons said private and parochial schools are free to teach creationism but that “religious doctrine doesn’t belong in our public schools.”

“Where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state?” O’Donnell asked him.

When Coons responded that the First Amendment bars Congress from making laws respecting the establishment of religion, O’Donnell asked: “You’re telling me that’s in the First Amendment?”

Well, um, yeah.

When the right eats its own, we laugh.  My enemy’s enemy is still my enemy, but its a lot more fun to watch them fight it out from afar than to be all up in the tussle, you know?

Anyway, Megan McCain went and dropped some very commonsensical knowledge regarding “nutjob” Christine O’Donnell, who is a candidate for Senator from Denmark or something, when she said:

Christine O’Donnell is making a mockery of running for public office. She has no real history, no real success in any kind of business. And what that sends to my generation is, one day, you can just wake up and run for Senate, no matter how [much] lack of experience you have.

While this statement is humorous because you could easily change “running for public office” to “being a tv pundit” and it would apply to McCain, the reaction of other conservative bloggers to McCain’s claim is better:

this self-indulgent set of mega-breasts doesn’t belong anywhere near a TV studio commenting on anything.

Lavoni Kidd was born in Kansas. A star athlete, he led the Idaho Vandals in rushing in 1995. By 2003, he had earned an overseas scholarship.

That’s when the Feds arrested him at Dulles Airport.

”I was made to sit in a small cell for hours and hours and hours buck naked,” he told the New York Times in 2004. ”I was treated worse than murderers.”

Kidd was held without charge for more than two weeks, through a series of high-security prisons. Even when he was released, he was ordered to live with his in-laws in Vegas, with his travel restricted to adjacent states. He was required to check in with probation officers. His passport was revoked.

Kidd would not enjoy the freedom of an American citizen again for thirteen months — when a judge granted his request to remove the remaining restrictions. By that time he was divorced, under the strain of the circumstances. And although he had never been charged with a crime, much less tried or convicted, Kidd found it hard to get a job.

Maybe being called a terrorist by the FBI director had something to do with it.

Oh, sorry, we left out something. Back in college, Lavoni Kidd had changed his name. To Abdullah al-Kidd.

This happened a while back, but this video went viral when Dan tried to stem the tide of gay kids killing themselves. He’s done a wonderful thing:

Joe Miller scores a twofer today:

“East Germany was very, very able to reduce the flow… Now, obviously, other things there were involved. We have the capacity to, as a great nation, obviously to secure our border. If East Germany could, we could.”

Really, all it takes is the right security detail.
