All-star wingnut Warner Todd Huston is sick and tired of all the Republican bellyaching about Sarah Palin — in particular the baseless accusation that Talibunny was the worst veep choice ever:

A look at recent history can only serve to deflate that ridiculous claim. There have been far worse picks than Gov. Palin and only the extremely emotional state of mind that this past election ginned up could obscure the historical record.

Exhibit A: Curtis LeMay.

Exhibit B: Thomas Eagleton.

Boy. If Hillary becomes SecState, the conflicts between Bill and Barack are going to be AWESOME.

(Note: no Forecast next week. I’m sure you’re all crushed, obviously. But: I’ll be in London, on my first honest-to-God vacation in a year-and-a-half.)

I’d like a simple explanation.  I’d like to be able to hang it all around Phil Gramm’s neck.   But, as is so often the case, it’s a lot more complicated:

Citigroup insiders and analysts say that Mr. Prince and Mr. Rubin played pivotal roles in the bank’s current woes, by drafting and blessing a strategy that involved taking greater trading risks to expand its business and reap higher profits. Mr. Prince and Mr. Rubin both declined to comment for this article.

Blurb: “After a traumatic experience, Bronx Police Officer Paul Kelly awakens in a hospital with no memory. What’s up with the girls who have really long fingernails and do lesbian scenes? Doesn’t that get scratchy?

It’s a psychological trick. They want to telegraph to the dudes that the girls are not really lesbian, so that low esteem guys don’t feel threatened. After all they want them to think that the girls might pleasure each other once in a while, but obviously they prefer cock. As to the scratchy issue, they put so much lube in the ladies before those scenes that you could probably stick a cheese grater up there without any irritation.

Okay, technically it’s “Turkey Rama”, and technically it happens in July, but unless you’ve been to McMinnville, it doesn’t really make any difference, does it?

The UK Literary Review’s annual “Bad Sex in Fiction” finalists have been announced, but unfortunately nobody’s posting excerpts yet. (Shout-out to John Updike for Rabbit is Flaccid The Widows of Eastwick, however.) So we’ll just have to make do with horny moments from last year’s finalists. Because while good sex may last all night, bad sex is forever.

Jeanette Winterson, The Stone Gods: I start to slip off my jeans and I feel her gaze as I stand in my bra and pants. Why am I embarrassed about taking off my clothes right in front of a robot?

Richard Milward, Apples: She had on no knickers, and my heart went crash-bang-wallop and my eyes popped out. She hadn’t shaved, and her fanny looked like a tropical fish or a bit of old carpet.
