So, about that Talibunny Couture Kerfluffle — it may have been even worse than reported. At least while Psychogeezer’s lieutenants have something to say off the record about it.

The instructions for Sarah Palin were to “buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist”. But like the adorable maverick she is, Palin didn’t purchase the clothes they wanted her to buy, but went straight to Nieman and Saks and let them know her credit line:

One aide estimated that she spent “tens of thousands” more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast,” and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

Fun factoid: The story came out within six hours of McCain’s concession speech. We’ve been expecting the Long Knives, but this amounts to swashbuckling.

. . .all I know is that a simple question has turned my life upside down and more people know about me than Obama,” claimed the ordinary-looking American, wearing sports pajamas and T-shirt.

I couldn’t tell you what Sports Pajamas are, but Joe the Slumber Party Guest thinks he’s still a big deal, because he is more of an Important American Celebrity than President Elect whatshisname (it’s something foreign sounding, I think, like Balack Balamawama).  Wurzelbacher plans to set up an Internet Web Site -for which job he’s already nailed the wardrobe- that will serve as both a political watchdog and a charity.  While I would say that these are not very new niches to be exploiting, none of the existing web sites are attached to the very famous name of Samuel Joe the Plumber; he will obviously make millions off this charity business idea.

I don’t know what they would do with that kind of money, but I know what I will do with that amount. I will give more of the money to various charities for various noble causes because I am a modest and simple-living person and love to spend my fortunes on missionary things.

Yes, these are actual quotes.  And yes, Joe the Plumber will now redistribute wealth to missionary things, which is dirty. He is in the tank for Socialist President-Elect Balamalama. Read more »

We know that John McCain lost because he was a shorter, angrier version of George W. Bush.  The wingnuts, however, have other ideas:

Ace of Spades – we lost because McCain wouldn’t let Sarah Palin drill in ANWR.

American Thinker – we lost because we nominated a Reagan Democrat.

Macsmind – we lost because McCain neglected to emphasize the fundamental tenets of the GOP: fags, flags, and four more wars.

Michelle Malkin – we lost because McCain failed to express sufficient hatred for illegal immigrants and anchor babies such as myself.

NRO (Byron York) – we lost because we needed a bigger boat.

The other side took the fight to us, and we never took the fight to the other side, except coyly and obliquely. That’s not a mistake we should make the next time. “Honorable campaigns” are for losers. [Kathryn Jean Lopez, 10:09 p.m.]

What freaks me out about this election is how oblivious to facts people have been. Everything about Obama’s judgment and radicalism — whether Sean Hannity or Stanley Kurtz or Andy McCarthy etc. is telling you about it — was essentially deemed irrelevant (including largely by the McCain campaign, save for Palin eventually talking about Ayers). [Kathryn Jean Lopez, 10:38 p.m.]

It is of course a great thing that we are (it seems pretty certain) electing a black President. It’s just a crying shame it had to be this shallow, empty man, who has never shown a flicker of interest in wealth creation, whose head is stuffed with all the vapid nostrums of 1980s student leftism, and who seems — putting the most charitable construction on it — not to mind the brazenly thuggish tactics of his supporters. [John Derbyshire, 11:03 p.m.]

This thing working? Yes? Good. And don’t click on Florida too much, or you’ll go blind.

So here we are: The Greatest Night in American History. Maybe. We’ll post any notable developments up here, but otherwise the party’s in the comments. Remember to drink every time Tim Russert gets mentioned on MSNBC.
