We’ve been calling her Talibunny for so long — almost from the start, really — we’re astonished that we’ve never seen fit to use the Killer Rabbit to illustrate a Sarah Palin post.

Consider that oversight rectified.

And what better moment than now to drop in on a bunch of crazy people pretending to live in the Dark Ages? Because starting at 9 p.m., and continuing for two tortuous hours, Fox News will be broadcasting Talibunny’s speech live from the National Tea Party Convention. And because we have nothing better to do, we’ll be following along with our Open Thread/Holy Hand Grenade Launcher.

Need more incentive? Palin will be introduced by Andrew Breitbart, who pays the ACORN Pimp’s salary, if not his lawyer’s bill. And we think Palin will be accompanied on stage by Joseph Farah, porn-stached proprietor of WorldNetDaily.

It just doesn’t get any better than this. And if it does, there’s always the Ark.

By popular demand — two requests qualifying as “popular” — the Stinque Jam awakens from its dogmatic slumber for what may be its only 2010 appearance. Unless we get heckled from the stands again.

If you’ve completely forgetten how this works, it’s simple: You send, we post. Automatically! By magic! It’s a great way to overshare with total strangers!

The Super Bowl of Tea Parties is under way in Nashville!

“If you take 1,000 so-called tea partiers and ask them what this movement is, you’ll get 1,000 different interpretations,” said Mark Williams, a talk-radio host and chairman of the Tea Party Express. “But they’re all waving American flags and speaking out against the galloping socialist agenda.”

We hope they brought their own flags, however:

There was no prayer or Pledge of Allegiance to open the convention — nor was there an American flag in the convention hall. ([Convention spokesman Mark] Skoda blamed the oversight on the hotel staff.)

Let’s see: No flags, no prayer, no Pledge — sounds like the Galloping Socialist Agenda is doing just fine.

Lede of the Week:

A judge has found former John Edwards aide Andrew Young and his wife, Cheri, in contempt of court for not turning over a sex tape featuring the former senator and his mistress, Rielle Hunter.

Is there anything else you need to know about the entire story?

Oh, right. They forgot the baby.

Maybe if we start signing our posts “Dick Sweat”, we’ll get some love around here.

Palin Camp Rips Limbaugh, Hits His “Retard” Comment As “Crude And Demeaning” [Plum Line]

Fearing he might be smeared by liberals as possessing common decency, Orrin Hatch is walking back comments that suggested he supports the right of citizens to defend their country:

“It’s deeply regrettable that liberal groups are misconstruing my position on ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ for activist purposes. I certainly do not support repealing this policy,” Hatch’s statement on Thursday said.

But a day earlier, MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell asked Hatch in a live interview about repealing the policy…

“I believe there are very outstanding, patriotic gay people who serve in the military and they ought to be given credit for it. And they shouldn’t have to lie about being gay,” Hatch said.

Added Hatch, “I just plain do not believe in prejudice of any kind.” Unless the wrong people applaud him for it, of course.
