Item: McCain showed up in Miami at an immigration event cosponsored by… ACORN.

Something about this blowback story gives me pause. The event was also, supposedly, hosted by the SEIU and People for the American Way (according to a similar posting by Fellow Traveller No. 1, Kos). I seriously doubt that PG would show up at an event so crawling with SOCIALISM that the hors d’oeuvres were unionized. So, like Gen. Turgidson, I smell a big, fat commie rat. But, if this is even close to being true? Well.. back to the drawing board, Geezerplex.

Mark Foley’s replacement is on the hook for (a) an affair, (b) a bad break-up and (c) $121k to the mistress in return for her silence.

Hey, Rahm — time to warm up the ejector seat. Kthxbai.

Quick: take a wild guess at who wrote this in a Minnesoda paper:

As a result of [Sen. Norm] Coleman’s leadership, PSI [Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations] has exposed more than $80 billion in fraud, waste and abuse in government operations. He identified multiple vulnerabilities in the Medicare system, which recently led to sweeping changes in Medicare to prevent scam artists from ripping off taxpayer dollars.

With the [GAO], he pinpointed weaknesses in our nation’s radiological licensing practices and brought about changes to help prevent terrorists from obtaining radioactive materials here in the United States. He also revealed the predatory practices of credit counseling agencies that take advantage of folks trying to dig their way out of debt. This effort ultimately strengthened efforts by the IRS to combat these abuses.

Yet, despite the long record of PSI successes, some partisan critics assert that he should have focused the subcommittee’s attention exclusively on Iraq. They are wrong.

If you answered Sen. Joseph Lieberman (??-Conn.), c’mon down! [BTW: “Partisan critic” = the damned Democratic nominee — Him… Al Franken.]

Seriously: Joe has had his coffee, and two slices of cake. Could somebody in the Democratic Party wish him a good night and safe trip home? Please?

So, Geezer said that he is going to “whip [Black Eagle’s] you-know-what in this debate” coming up on Wednesday. Those clowns can’t even play the expectations game right.

On the evidence, unless Bob Schieffer totally decides to suckerpunch Hopey — literally, come up from behind the desk and whomp him — Obama/Biden is looking at a four-for-four sweep. In which case, absent the effect of the inevitable bin Laden mix tape and the “Obama was a coke-snorter” ad, we might be down to — well, allow me to suggest the one awesome West Wing clip that RomeGirl missed, to be re-enacted by Claire McCaskill after the debate…

[Of course, I will now go outside, turn around three times and spit, in order to appease the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing.]

DEVELOPING HARD: Geezer puts the brakes on in Minnesoda.

Quotable:  “I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments and I will respect him –” at which point the audience boos and he goes “no, no, I want everyone to be respectful…”

Guy in audience says that he’s scared of an Obama presidency.  McCain shoots back: “he is a decent person, and a person you do not have to be scared of as President of the United States.”  Cries of anguish from the audience.  Really.

And then a lady calls him an Arab, and Geezer actually grabs the microphone away and slams her.

Watch the video. He sounds sad and resigned to what the last week has been like, and knows that it is wrong to go down this path. Thus, please expect the Rev. Wright ad to go into heavy spin on Monday.

I really want to string together an appropriate amount of pungent profanity for this crap, but I just don’t have the strength. Brian Rogers, the Geezerplex’s designated stupid spokesperson of the day, said this, per TPM:

“Barack Obama’s attacks on Americans who support John McCain reveal far more about him than they do about John McCain. It is clear that Barack Obama just doesn’t understand regular people and the issues they care about. He dismisses hardworking middle class Americans as clinging to guns and religion, while at the same time attacking average Americans at McCain rallies who are angry at Washington, Wall Street and the status quo.

“Even worse, he attacks anyone who dares to question his readiness to serve as their commander in chief. Raising legitimate questions about his record, character and judgment are a vital part of the Democratic process, and Barack Obama’s effort to silence and shame those who seek answers should make everyone wonder exactly what he is hiding.”

“Terrorist! Traitor! Etc.!” = “raising legitimate questions about his record.” I give up.

Read this — the whole thing.  For once, somebody shouting at the Geezer is actually making some sense.

John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as “not one of us,” I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence.

At a Sarah Palin rally, someone called out, “Kill him!” At one of your rallies, someone called out, “Terrorist!” Neither was answered or denounced by you or your running mate, as the crowd laughed and cheered. At your campaign event Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa., the crowd was seething with hatred for the Democratic nominee – an attitude encouraged in speeches there by you, your running mate, your wife and the local Republican chairman.

Shame!
