After last week, I have trouble believing that the coming week could be any more crazy. And yet it could be.

1.  We know that GOP runners and riders for the Congress haven’t put Dubya in their ads.  But: how many of them are putting McCain in their teevee and radio spots?  And, if that number is greater than zero at this point, does that number go down after the week from hell?

Huggy, Kuddly Kutee-Pie Talibunny Yerns for GOP Victory and Apocalypse

Huggy, Kuddly Kutee-Pie Talibunny Places Second in Maxim's Hot Pol Contest. Praise!

Sarah ‘Talibunny’ Palin’s dedication to establishing a militant theocracy may give the Psychogeezer a gumby, but her teasing dalliance  of fascism, rather than full-throated, grunting, gagging, shlong-gobbling surrender to fascism was only good enough to place her 2nd in Maxim magazine’s World’s Hottest Politicians competition this month.

In a sad testimony of our times and the inevitable decent of the western world into a theocratic nightmarescape, the clearest criterion separating first and second place in Maxim‘s World’s Hottest Politicians competition was literally an apparent willingness of the pol to ingest fascist man meat with sufficient abandon.

This will maybe get us through the first half hour

This will maybe get us through the first half hour

As advertised, watching Friday night’s glorious victory by John McCain in the first presidential debate was the occasion for the first ever gathering of the Chicago Stinquers chapter:  Chicago Bureau, BeRightBack, flippin’ and yours truly homofascist.  To be fair, BRB still thought we were Cynics but we were able to set him straight.  Er, well, not really straight so much as less gay on the Cynics.  Er…well, hopefully you get what I mean.

Also to be fair, ‘watching’ the debate may be a bit of a stretch.  After a few dozen cocktails apiece it sort of devolved into yelling at the teevee, laughing at PG, trying to keep track of how many times each candidate said a word ending in -stan so we could take a drink (this rule easily accounted for a fifth of gin at the minimum), searching for another lime, making fun of Cindy McCain’s extentions and assessing which procedures Jim Lehrer could have done to take care of those bags under his eyes.  But we had a fabulous time in Chicago Bureau’s deluxe apartment in the sky, and discovered lots of fun things about each other.  Revelations, and more photos, after the jump.

Washington. An alley. Night.

Op #1: So what do we do about it?

Op #2: About what?

Op #1: The Problem.

Op #2: What problem? It’s not my problem.

Op #1: It will be your problem if we don’t do something about it.

Op #2: Did I tell you there would be a problem?

Op #1: You did.

Op #2: And?

Op #1: It wasn’t a problem.

We stole the headline from the Daily Show writers, who contribute some sidebars to this week’s Entertainment Weekly interview with Stewart and Colbert. They’ve been doing a lot of press lately, but this one happened to land in our mailbox.

The Republicans are going to fuck you in the ass again:

WASHINGTON – House Democrats say the idea of letting judges rewrite mortgages to help bankrupt homeowners avoid foreclosure won’t be a part of the $700 billion financial industry bailout.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told Democrats at a closed-door meeting Friday evening the provision would be a deal-breaker for Republicans who she has said must deliver substantial votes for the rescue plan. That’s according to several lawmakers who attended the session.
