Rowdy curling crowds; spontaneous street parties; public drunkeness. You don’t have to look far for evidence that the crowds at Winter Games in Vancouver know how to have a good time.

And, as if anymore proof is needed that a wild Olympic atmosphere permeates B.C.’s largest city, now there’s an apparent condom shortage.

That’s right. As you read this, an emergency shipment of condoms is desperately making its way across Canada to the West Coast city.

Sort of like their economy:

(NEWSER) – A Dubai aquarium and shopping mall were evacuated yesterday when a mammoth shark tank cracked and gushed water in downtown Dubai. The 2.5 million gallon tank, promoted as an “indoor ocean,” holds some 33,000 sea creatures, including hundreds of sharks. Workers carrying life jackets rushed to the scene, and the glass panel leak was quickly plugged. The fish were not in danger, reports the BBC. The aquarium is located at the foot of the world’s tallest building, which was closed this month after an elevator accident.

Last night I had a craving for crabcakes, so after a bit of googling I settled on this recipe:

Ingredients

• 1 LB. LUMP CRABMEAT (DARK LEG MEAT MAY BE USED
• 2 ½ CUPS SOFT BREAD CRUMBS
• 1 EGG, BEATEN
• ¾ CUP MAYONNAISE
• 1/3 CUP EACH: CHOPPED CELERY, GREEN BELL PEPPER, GREEN ONION
• 1 TABLESPOON SEAFOOD SEASONING (OLD BAY PREFERRED)
• 1 TABLESPOON MINCED FRESH PARSLEY
• 1 TABLESPOON LEMON JUICE
• 1 TEASPOON WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
• 2 TEASPOON YELLOW MUSTARD
• ¼ TEASPOON BLACK PEPPER
• DASH OF HOT PEPPER SAUCE

Vitter isn’t as vulnerable as I’d like.

When Vitter’s scandal broke in 2007, some left his political career for dead. Two years later, his re-election campaign is humming along. He has racked up more than $3 million in his campaign treasury. Christian conservative leaders have come to his defense. The head of Louisiana’s Republican party says Vitter deserves another term representing the state, and Vitter has yet to draw a strong GOP opponent as some had predicted.
