We can only hope. After John McCain failed to blow his head off last time, we despaired that we’d ever get to see the Bruckheimer-quality conflagration we paid good money on beer to watch. But coming off a weekend calling Barry a terrorist and a liar and a bad tipper, we expect the Psychogeezer to show us the Right Stuff that destroyed three jets.

And so we open tonight’s Live Blog/Open Thread/Snuff Film with the anticipation that we’ll be witnessing history, finally putting to rest Richard Nixon’s 48-year record as America’s Sweathog. Whatever your drinking game, make sure you save a bottle for the post-meltdown celebration.

AIG executives went on luxurious retreat one week after receiving $85 billion bailout.

I say it’s time for that revolution Jefferson kept talking about.

Today, the House Oversight Committee discovered that, just one week after the federal government bailed out insurance giant AIG, company executives went on a retreat to a luxury resort. The executives spent nearly $500,000 on manicures, facials, pedicures, and massages, among other things. During a hearing today, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) asked, “Have you heard of anything more outrageous?”:

CUMMINGS: Let me describe for some of you the charges that the shareholders, taxpayers, had to pay. AIG spent $200,000 dollars for hotel rooms. Almost $150,000 for catered banquets. AIG spent $23,000 at the hotel spa and another $1,400 at the salon. They were getting manicures, facials, pedicures and massages while American people were footing the bill. And they spent another $10,000 dollars for I don’t know what this is, leisure dining. Bars?

I want heads on pikes over the East River.

Heh indeedy:

Immigration authorities in Kenya say they will deport the American author of a highly critical book about US presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The author, Jerome Corsi, was in Kenya to launch his book which accuses Mr Obama of supporting an alleged plot to turn Kenya into an Islamic state.

Officials said that Mr Corsi did not have the right visa.

More after the jump.

McCain calls Obama a liar [AP]

Ho-lee shit. The electoral-vote chart we’ve been following for months just spiked. This is the chart that averages state polls over the past week, and only counts those where either candidate leads by at least 5 percent.

The strong states, not the close races.

From the Philadelphia Daily News, this tidbit:

“At 9:29 p.m., I received in an email the sleaziest political press release I’ve ever seen. It came from the Republican Party of Pennsylvania and it’s headlined: ‘PAGOP: OBAMA – A TERRORIST’S BEST FRIEND.'”

Battery-chucking bastards.

Well, it’s finally out, the thing people with memories have been waiting for the Obama campaign to address: McCain’s connection to the Keating Five scandal.
