You thought 43 was responsible for all the looting and pillaging?  Not so fast – look what 41 inflicted on my beloved state of New York:

An appointee of President George H. W. Bush who was the first woman and first Hispanic to serve as surgeon general, Dr. [Antonia C.] Novello was praised even by the Clinton administration for her “vigor and talent” and promised to bring new attention to pediatric health.

But the New York State inspector general’s office says that she turned her staff at the Health Department into her personal chauffeurs, porters and shopping assistants during her seven-year tenure, and has referred a criminal case, including potential felony charges, to the Albany County district attorney.

Where does the Bush family find these people?

UPDATED below.

It wasn’t easy, but I read all of today’s Bill Kristol column in the NYT.  But the last line made my suffering worthwhile:

“This is William Kristol’s last column.”

It’s a big day Stinquers.  For some reason, known only to a few, this country’s most ignorant, most consistently wrong pundit will no longer be flinging poo on our most prestigious op-ed page. His contract won’t be renewed.

I urge you all to head over to the NYT and comment on Kristol’s final steaming pile.  My comment appears after the jump.

Another day, another outrage.  Today I’m having trouble picking just one, so let’s make a list:

1. Billy Joel – I have long held that he is deeply, bathetically awful.  Nice to see someone other than Joe Queenan agrees with me.  Just a snippet:

This must be prevented! No career re-evaluations please! No false contrarian rehabilitations! He was terrible, he is terrible, he always will be terrible. Anodyne, sappy, superficial, derivative, fraudulently rebellious. Joel’s famous song “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”? Please. It never was rock ‘n’ roll. Billy Joel’s music elevates self-aggrandizing self-pity and contempt for others into its own new and awful genre: “Mock-Rock.”

The other five are after the jump.

Once again, banking’s Best and Brightest piss away your tax dollars!

You could hardly blame Kenneth D. Lewis, the embattled leader of the Bank of America Corporation, for feeling a bit of buyer’s remorse.

His audacious acquisition of Merrill Lynch, the giant brokerage, looks so disastrous that many on Wall Street wonder if he can keep his job.

Four months ago, as turmoil swept Wall Street, Mr. Lewis’s bank bought the foundering brokerage for $50 billion in stock. Today, the two companies are worth $40 billion combined.

Of course, no one could have predicted this would happen:

I know, I know … the Nissan GT-R looks like a Japanese monster from one of those 50s movies.

nissan_gtr_01_lowresAnd I know it’s not politically correct. I know its got limits I could not begin to explore.  I know if I tried to explore those limits I’d end up in hospital.  For a very long time.

But I want one.

The PUMAs found a bright shiny object!

“The Obama boobery with the oath, led to a second oath. But the Bible, like the once disdained flag lapel pin, was nowhere to be seen,” sniped the Hillaryis44 blog, referring to a row during the presidential campaign over a missing lapel pin.

“Expect a third oath when bitter small town gun- and Bible-toting America finds out.”

The next four years are going to be blogging gold.

Barack Obama Sworn in Again, But Without a Bible [Times Online]

I tried, but the snark won’t come today.  Is it relief that the country is not run by sociopaths anymore?  Dunno.  So I will post this video of Bill O’Reilly bloviating about Jessica Alba.
