This company is like a fucking zombie – nothing short of a shot to the head will kill it:

UPDATE: Looks like Chinese/Japanese-Swedish company National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) bought Saab with the intention of producing, mostly, electric vehicles. Saabs have always been strange, so why not?

UPDATE 2: Our friends at Saabs United have more details on the purchase, but here are the bullet points:

  • NEVS bought the intellectual property rights to the 9-3 but nothing else
  • The first new Saab product will be an electric 9-3 for China
  • The cars will be designed and built in Sweden

Don’t think I don’t love this – Saab was/is a great brand, and now they’re back. Top Gear’s eulogy (premature, it turns out) after the jump:

Top Gear tested these cars (the Toyota Yaris Aygo and the VW Fox) the way anyone else would have – by playing a game of football:

This asshole again:

Federal campaign regulators brought the hammer down on disgraced former Sen. Larry Craig on Monday, accusing him of misusing hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign cash to pay for his legal defense following an arrest in a Minneapolis airport bathroom sex sting.

The Federal Election Commission filed a federal lawsuit against Craig, who now works as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., asking a judge to order the former lawmaker to pay back his campaign committee more than $200,000 and stop him from raiding the committee for his own personal use.

Thought we’d never have to look at that horrible mugshot again. On the other hand, any excuse to post this video:

People in Russia are upset because they’ve at last figured out they live in a dictatorship. Putin is going  to make Mugabe look like Mother Theresa:

(NEWSER) – Despite new anti-demonstration fines and police interrogating opposition leaders, tens of thousands of Russians jammed Moscow’s streets today, protesting against President Vladimir Putin, reports the AP. Police estimated 20,000 protesters showed up, while organizers put the number upward of 100,000. ….

Police yesterday raided opposition leaders’ homes, confiscating cellphones and computers, and demanding that they come in for questioning an hour before today’s rally was to begin. One leftist leader ignored the summons, saying he felt it his duty to join protesters. “I never thought that we would slide back to such repressions,” tweeted a TV host.

Russia has showed us again and again that it doesn’t give a shit what anyone else thinks. Expect lots of disappearances.

“The Liberal Media” just can’t seem to focus on this Mittens-impersonates-a-cop story. Karoli channels Conason:

If Mitt Romney had a penchant in his youth for masquerading as a state police officer — and there is reason to believe he did – then he seems to have attracted staffers with that same peculiar fantasy over the years. During the summer of 2007, months before the general public paid much attention to the Republican presidential candidates, Romney’s 2008 campaign stumbled into a scandal that led to the resignation of a top staffer accused of impersonating a state trooper, and allegations of similar misconduct by at least two others.

Damn I will miss them:

I even wrote bits for them, the Bugsy lunch bits at the end of the show as heard in the above clip. A couple of mine are in there (particularly the Mario Batali). On the other hand, they’ve been doing this 25 years, so they deserve a break.
