As our longtime unindicted co-conspirators know, Stinque World Domination Headquarters is conveniently located across I-5 from the Sandy Eggo Airport, which allows quick travel to our Pacific Dead Volcano Island when we need to launch nukes at alien invaders.

Another benefit is that the top of our hillock affords a nice view of Sandy Eggo’s annual Blow Shit Up Celebration, when the natives detonate thousands of dollars of synchronized explosives to appease the Area Earthquake Demons. This year we could see five simultaneous demonstrations from our vantage point, since last year’s paltry threesome clearly made the Area Earthquake Demons angry.

There had been talk of sacrificing a few virgins as well, but virgins haven’t been seen in Sandy Eggo since the Prop 8 stadium prayer meeting in 2008.

Three day weekend, so the big meal is tonight. Moroccan food – it’s a tagine:

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 8 chicken thighs
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled, halved, and thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ras al-hanut*
  • Large pinch saffron, soaked in 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 1/2 cups canned diced tomatoes, drained (15-ounce can)
  • 1 1/2 cups canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained (15-ounce can)
  • 3/4 cup dried apricots, sliced into half moons
  • Harissa Sauce, recipe follows
  • Chopped flat-leaf parsley, for garnish
  • Chopped fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • *Cook’s Note: Ras al-hanut is a mixture of many different spices used in Moroccan cooking. It is available at spice markets or online.

Built during a period when British Leyland workers were mostly out on strike, they were horrible cars.  Still, that didn’t prevent BL from trying to foist them on an unsuspecting public:
