We haven’t been paying much attention to all the resume-padding going on among candidates this year — then again, we haven’t been reminded before of our favorite Game Show God. Meet Colorado GOP gubernatorial nominee Dan Maes:

A statement he wrote on his campaign website that was later removed said: “At one point in my 2 years there I was place (sic) undercover by the Kansas Bureau of Investigations (sic) to gather information inside a bookmaking ring that was also allegedly selling drugs. I got too close to some significant people in the community who were involved in these activities and abruptly was dismissed from my position. I was blindsided and stunned to say the least.”

So was the director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, who can’t find any record of Maes in the archives.

“Craig Brown, a psychiatrist who lives in Del Mar, donned a white lab coat and wore a stethoscope around his neck as U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle of Nevada spoke against the health-care bill… Brown said he borrowed the white coat from a nearby lab because a website suggested people wear lab coats to the event.” [San Diego Union-Tribune, via ThinkProgress]

Breaking news from the first state we’ll be giving back to Mexico:

The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed.
 
Founder of the San Diego Minutemen Jeff Schwilk tipped me off to this story and passes along the following information on the location. The ranches are said to be “near Mines Rd. and Minerales Annex Rd about 10 miles NW of I-35”.
