Everyone’s handsome uncle, Mitt Romney, is saying things that are getting him in trouble, because he is again giving credence to “theories” based on “fact” and “evidence.” That’s right, Romney said:

And, wait for it:

I believe that humans contribute to that.

In case any of you forgot that Romney used to live in Massachusetts, where driving cars is banned and I personally have served on several death panels (So Fun, Guys!), you can now go on and remember that again. Which is what Rush Limbaugh did, and then he decided:

The only man more boring than Tim Pawlenty will not seek the highest office in the land:

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has decided not to run for president. He alerted followers of the news in an email sent out early — really early — Sunday morning, probably while he was drunk, or at least, feeling restless after Saturday Night Live. Daniels, an establishment Republican favorite, had built up a reputation as a “sane” Republican by not actively demonizing Muslims and talking about “the deficit” all the time, but he stripped Indiana funds for Planned Parenthood and continued to identify himself as a Republican in 2011, so how sane can he really be? Even so, someone should check on David Brooks and make sure he’s doing okay.

Mitch Daniels Won’t Be Running for President [Gawker]

Fox News terminated its contracts with Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum after the deadline for them to decide on presidential bids passed on May 1.  No action has been taken yet against Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee. According to Politico, “The contracts’ end marks another sign that Gingrich, who has repeatedly delayed his decision citing business obligations, is in the race — though he dropped out of tonight’s Fox debate.”

Let’s face it, there’s a lot left to do. Climate change, the economy, immigration reform, two wars we shouldn’t be fighting – you know the drill. And let’s face another fact: as long as the GOP and conservatives have any political power, nothing will get done. They will block any reforms and enact laws that drag us back to the Jim Crow past they love so well. We are effectively ruled by sociopaths.

Conservatives exist to question, and undo, any sort of progress.  Abortion finally legal?  Not so fast, lefty. Segregation ended?  Not according to Rand Paul and other bigots. Evolution and climate change proved real? Not according to the GOP. And the gold standard, attacking  immigrants, immediately using their new House majority to target women, children, gays, and unions, and on and on.
