Don’t Messiah With Texas

Our guest columnist is The Most Not Reverend Rick Perry.

At twenty-seven years old, I knew that I’d been called to the ministry. I’ve just always been really stunned by how big a pulpit I was gonna have! I still am. I truly believe with all my heart that God has put me in this place at this time to do His will.

On Aug. 6 of this year, 2011, we are going to have a day of prayer and fasting. And it’s going to be the real deal. It’s not going to be some program where we line up a dozen political figures to come in and talk. It’s going to be people standing on that stage, projecting and proclaiming Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior at Reliant Stadium in Houston…

Our founding fathers understood that [property] was a very important part of the pursuit of happiness. Being able to own things that are your own is one of the things that makes America unique. But I happen to think that it’s in jeopardy.

It’s in jeopardy because of taxes; it’s in jeopardy because of regulation; it’s in jeopardy because of a legal system that’s run amok. And I think it’s time for us to just hand it over to God and say, “God, You’re going to have to fix this.”…

I think it’s time for us to use our wisdom and our influence and really put it in God’s hands. That’s what I’m going to do, and I hope you’ll join me. I hope you’ll join us in Houston on the 6th day of August and really start a revival across this country.

Here’s what I want to leave you with. I know from time to time, people will say something like, “There goes Perry. He wants to secede.” But I love this country. We’re a special place.

We were created by God-fearing individuals who understood those biblical values and how powerful they could be and would be in the future.

And I suggest that for our country, our best days are ahead if we’ll get on our knees and ask God to take over and give us wisdom.

I may wear the Lord out every day in prayer. I pray for this country. I pray for restoration for this country. I pray for our president every day. I pray that God turns buckets of wisdom out on his head, that God will open his eyes.

We can change this country, but it requires our giving it to Him and letting Him guide us.

God responds: “You might start by not executing the innocent.”

Semi-theological question: would one get arrested or just tossed out for passing out copies of Matthew 6:5-6 at Perry’s hootenanny? ;)

“Our best days are ahead if we’ll get on our knees and ask God to take over and give us wisdom. I may wear the Lord out every day in prayer.”

He might be wearing something out every day on his knees… Maybe he and Mr. Bachman need to talk it out.

football jesus there looks an awful lot like stephen garcia, the south carolina gamecocks quarterback:
http://www.shotofginn.com/2011/04/stephen-garcia-qb-south-carolina.html
does that mean his coach, steve spurrier (ex-49er) is god?
does it also mean that the gamecocks arch-rival clemson is the anti-christ?
some football fans here in confederastan believe both statements to be true.
keep in mind though that there are a lot of idiots down here.

Rick Perry’s brain-child, the Trans Texas Corridor, would have over half a million acres of privately owned agricultural land.
The plan also would have leased the mega highway to a Spanish and Australian company. Fortunately, Rick was nixed, though certain portions of the plan are still being worked out. Rick is desparately trying to distance himself from that debacle.
Rick Perry is a douche bag and a liar.

@al2o3cr: Had to look that one up. Good question.

@al2o3cr: Burned at the stake during half time. Excellent citation, BTW.

@redmanlaw: I just wish Abby would stop with the Justin Bieber hairdo.

Oh, and while we’re on the topic of futbol de las mujeres, Mr. SFL informed me that we can’t get a DVR because there are a limited number of “entry ports” into the TV, with the tuner/stereo, cable box, and blue-ray. Can any of you techie types tell me if there’s a way to get around the limited number of holes on the TV?

SFL – you need to pop for a new TV too. The last one we purchased, maybe 18 months ago, has at least eight inputs.

@SanFranLefty: We ran the cable wire from the cable box through the TiVo and into the TV. We didn’t use RCA jacks. We needed to set up infrared do dads (came with the TiVo) that would allow the TiVo to change the cable channel (we only needed to do this on one cable box — not sure why we didn’t need to on others). Anyway, we didn’t need any extra input/output RCA jacks. We only run into those problems when we have 18 million video systems hooked up. I’m sure there are schematics out there somewhere.

@SanFranLefty: Ah. It looks like you need all those RCA things if you’re going HD. We don’t have HD, so our set up looks like this: http://support.tivo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/100

@DElurker: Mr. SFL bought (against my wishes) a new TV about a year ago. @JNOV: It’s a HD, maybe that’s why.

@texrednface: Indiana’s own Mitch Daniels succeeded in leasing the Indiana Toll Road to what I presume is the same Australian-Spanish outfit, God help us all. You get a very poor type of voter here, by and large.
