There’s a connection here between the Secret Service’s invisible ink and this creationist museum. I just haven’t found it yet.

Quote of the day re current sex scandals: Abstinence makes the church grow fondlers.

And please – judge them not by the quality of their website.

Turns out my friend went to college with an “scientist” on staff at the Creation Museum. She found this out in the middle of the movie theater when he showed up in the documentary What’s the Matter with Kansas?

I’m off to the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio today with my Museum Day pass. My dad is actually invited to a wedding at Unity Temple today, but I’m not so I’ll have to see that another time.

Hey Lefty, it’s UCLA v. Tejas today. Cowboy up!

@ManchuCandidate:

I think you meant Turing, not von Neumann; although I doubt the creationists are too jazzed about some of von Neumann’s work either (specifically, self-replicating cellular automata).

@Dodgerblue: Hopefully the Longhorns will do better than the last time they played Uklah.

/for the non-sporters, it was one of the worst upsets in the history of UT – they lost 66-3 in 1997 to the 0 and 2 Bruins.

flippin eck: Shit. I’m a member at Unity Temple. I haven’t been in two years (I have a Sunday afternoon poker tourney I go to every so often — yes, my priorities are ALL SET), but I might have had an in if you wanted to go with your Pop. Sorry.

(Speaking of priorities: Tree v Domers — worthy of an open thread, available soonish, and also a strained comment on the plight of the dearly-departed Democratic Party.)

@al2o3cr: von Neumann, Godel and Einstein were, I believe, the first 3 brainiacs invited to the Princeton Institute for Advanced Studies. Imagine the poker games. “Kurt, you putz, bet already!!”

@Benedick Arnuldsson Manpants: So? Has it arrived yet? Are you checking the tracking information every waking moment? And did you know I pre-ordered the new AppleTV, just so I can feel special again?

Well, that, and a new means to drive Silent Creative Partner’s stage show. But we all know that’s just a flimsy excuse.

@nojo: I have a Kindle and a nifty HP netbook with a broadband card. Why do I need an iPad? I’m not talking want here, but need. I don’t need another guitar amp either, but if you have a silverface Deluxe Reverb laying around, let me know.

@Dodgerblue: Don’t know about you, but I need an iPad because I like reading and writing on my back, something a netbook precludes. I also need one now so I can shoot videos to a monitor over wifi while sitting in SCP’s audience.

@chicago bureau: I’m definitely going to switch over to the Tree v. Catholics game to see what the Stanford Band has in the works for the halftime show, no doubt something about the priests diddling little kids…

ADD: Sadly the University of California at Eugene game is not televised, much to Mr. SFL’s sadness, since he has his new U of O shirt “with wings on it!” as he excitedly told me.

@SanFranLefty: I thought the LSJU band was, uh, banned from Notre Dame after that little incident a few years ago.

@Dodgerblue: I thought they were playing in Shallow Alto today, but now I see they’re playing in South Bend. Mebbe they won’t be there.

It’s a scorcher in Austin today…the turf field is going to start melting their boots (it happens when I play on the turf fields in NorCal when it’s over 85 degrees here).

@SanFranLefty: Have you seen the FloTV ad with The Duck? Freaks the hell out of me, since I spend half my waking hours cropping photos of The Duck.

@SanFranLefty: As of right now it’s Pope 3, and Tree, Horns, Bruins 0.

@Dodgerblue: The UT-Uklah game is getting painful to watch so I think I’m switching to Pope v. Tree.

P.S. Spent the past five minutes reading the Wiki page on LSJUMB, never fails to amuse me. Couldn’t find any info on the tubez about whether the ND ban is still in place.

@SanFranLefty: Tree just scored on the Pope. Did you see, btw, that the Italian financial authorities are investigating the Vatican Bank for moneylaundering? Tsk tsk.

@Dodgerblue: And Tree has the ball again after a nice sack of the ND QB resulting in a fumble recovery.

@SanFranLefty: Another score? I’m at work, following on ESPN.com

@Dodgerblue: GAH-DAMMIT!!! Fucking UT punt returner tried to catch the ball on the 3 yard line, fumbled it, and Uklah recovered and scored. Dodgers 7, SFLs 3.

Tree 10, Pope 3.

Back from my firewood run to the local socialist national forest and cleaning the back yard. Dinner out at a shooting buddy’s place (nice older non-conservative asshole couple from Texas) later. Might squeeze in a trip to Home Depot for materials for a shelf installation Son of RML is doing for pay.
