How about some real bunnehs instead of Talibunny?

“PolitiFact editors and reporters have chosen ‘government takeover of health care’ as the 2010 Lie of the Year. Uttered by dozens of politicians and pundits, it played an important role in shaping public opinion about the health care plan and was a significant factor in the Democrats’ shellacking in the November elections.”
Top Baby Names for 2010: “The names Quinn (and Finn) from ‘Glee,’ Betty from ‘Mad Men’ and Demi and Tiana of Disney princess fame didn’t crack the top 100, but they’re rising fast. So are monikers that became household names during the Winter Olympics: Bode, Shaun and Apollo. And so are the widely publicized names of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s daughters: Bristol, Willow and Piper. (But Palin’s sons’ names, Track and Trig? Not so much.)” [Today, via Sully]
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Antonin Scalia would prefer that we trim a few branches from the Tree of Liberty:
Scalia called the writing of the Constitution “providential,” and the birth of political science.
“There’s very little that I would change,” he said. “I would change it back to what they wrote, in some respects. The 17th Amendment has changed things enormously.”
That amendment allowed for U.S. Senators to be elected by the people, rather than by individual state legislatures.
“We changed that in a burst of progressivism in 1913, and you can trace the decline of so-called states’ rights throughout the rest of the 20th century. So, don’t mess with the Constitution.”
Scalia joins Louie Gohmert and Glenn Beck in the quest to roll back the ravages of direct democracy, as well as Senator-Elect Doppelgangster. We’ll just note, again, that nobody really cared about this issue until The Sheriff Was Near.
Which, come to think of it, explains Scalia’s “states’ rights” reference.
“BE IT REMEMBERED, this date, the Court having ordered all present in the courtroom to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegience, and having found that Danny Lampley, Attorney at Law, failed and refused to do so, finds said Danny Lampley to be in criminal contempt of court.” [NMissCommentor, via Sully]
While the upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity/March To Keep Fear Alive is supposedly scaring the bejeezus out of Democrats for stealing focus next month, it seems at least one of the headliners will be slipping into DC early. Like, Friday:
Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert is slated to testify at a congressional hearing Friday on immigration titled “Protecting America’s Harvest.”
One Republican source said Colbert will be testifying “in character,” the Bill O’Reilly-like muse Colbert uses for his show.
“John Edwards, move over. There’s a new standard bearer for the most unpopular person PPP has polled in any state: Levi Johnston in Alaska. Edwards’ 15/72 favorability on our January North Carolina poll had set the initial record for futility but Johnston matches the 72% unfavorable number while only 6% of Alaskans see him in a positive light.” [Public Policy Polling, via Political Wire]
