“The Republican nominee has made a habit of spray tanning before major speeches, debates, interviews, and other events that have a chance of getting wide TV coverage, the source said. He pays for the process out of pocket — sparing his campaign the expense, and the task of masking it on public campaign finance reports…” The Romney campaign denies. [BuzzFeed]

Mitt always said, once you go tan, you never go back.

Jinx alert: I just received an invite to a book talk on Tuesday at the local outpost of the Goethe-Institut. The topic is “Der neue Obama: was von der zweiten Amtszeit zu erwarten ist.” Auf Englisch, “The New Obama: What to expect from the second term.”

Speaking of skin color, CNN’s Racial Voting Bloc Calculator is hilariously useless. According to its calculations, Obama could win a close race — 278 to 260 — with a slightly smaller share of white voters than in 2008 (39% versus 43%) and the same share of all other voters, but the blue states would include Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas.

@mellbell: I forget the exact stat, but I heard in passing Monday night something like that: Like 2008, Obama is losing white males, but making that up with everybody else.

I find that fascinating. Even if we haoles won’t become a mere plurality for another decade or three, the American demographic shift is already well underway.

@mellbell: Oh, and the red states would include Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. So very useless.

@SanFranLefty: “White Trash For Romney” is a demographic that is dying out.

Darlings, darling babies, one sprays tan over one’s entire bod: hence the term Spray Tan. For campaign appearances one wears MAKE UP. Also when one appears on Fox and Friends one wears MAKE UP.

From whence does this spray tan meme evanesce? Clearly dude got bad makeup gals. Solution is MAKE UP.

You go on TV you wear MAKE UP. And lots of it.
