Tennessee Votes Down Pole Tax

“An effort to tax strippers and adult businesses to help pay for a reduction in the state tax on coins, bullion and investment income has failed for the year… The bill sought to impose a 20 percent sales tax on items sold at ‘sexually oriented businesses,’ and to require strippers to pay a privilege tax to work in Tennessee.” [KnoxNews, via Redmanlaw]

This makes no sense. Who wrote the bill? Glenn Beck?

G strings tripped up the G-squad G-men of Tenn.

This doesn’t put them out of business – drink just go to 11 bucks, door to 25, and lap dances to 60. So I’m told.

Trayvon’s email hacked by white supremacist, passwords changed to guess what?

@Benedick: Have a cousin there – visited her. We saw Porter Waggoner hitting on a woman 1/3 his age in front of the Grand Ole Opry.

Okay, I just read the Trayvon stuff. So bummed.

So please, join me in reading Tom and Lo’s deconstruction of Mad Men fashion. And part two of their analysis. Nojo, I think SCP will enjoy it. I loved their scene-by-scene analysis of what the costume designers were doing, and now must re-watch the episode.

Oh, and what Negative Space said – I’ve been listening to a lot of Living Colour lately (remember them) and I’m getting fired up to revolt.

And tomorrow (Friday 3/30) is the California state holiday of Cesar Chavez Day. Actual date of birth is 3/31.

La gente unida, jamas sera vencida!
Si se puede!

/can’t be bothered to find the accents for the vowels, those of you who know Spanish know what I mean

Unfortunately it just reminded me how forced I thought the first episode was. I still don’t think you should go from Stay At Home Joanie to HighJinks at Don’s Party to Megan the Maid to Black Folk May As Well Be Allowed to Apply in one show.

But that is a fun little blog, Lefty. I just hope the show’s writing catches back up with the fashion by Epi 2 or 3.

@SanFranLefty: The People, United, will NEVER be defeated!

That unity thing is kinda tricky.

@blogenfreude: I saw his show being taped in Nashville with Dolly Parton as the singer. His face was eaten by rats as a child. I had breakfast at the Loveless Motel. The other time I was there I refused to cross a picket line and made a scandal.

@Benedick: I tok my dog to Graceland, but they wouldn’t let her into the Sun Records studio.

@Nabisco:
Would they let her poop on Elvis’ grass?

@Nabisco: Did you have reason to believe you both would be received?
