Isn’t It Good, Hurricane Wood

“It’s twoo! It’s twooo! It’s TWOOOOO!”

“‘Scuse me while I whip this out.”

Our shops are out of bread, I bought an oil lamp, and I’ve got poison ivy on my FACE.

Love the Beatles reference.

Crawling off to sleep in the bath isn’t the worst hurricane advice.

@Walking Still: No no no … you’re supposoed to fill your bathrub with water.

@blogenfreude: @Walking Still: You need the bathtub water to flush the toilet. Gin would be a waste.

@nojo: @blogenfreude: @Walking Still: I hear that in Jersey they just piss out the window, figuring that the rains will wash it all away.

@flypaper: In the alternative, could one stock up on kitty litter?

We’re lucky because we have streams that I use to fill buckets to keep the toilets going when the power goes out. Heavy clouds are turning dark grey/blue. I’m going out to move the cars away from trees. It seems the local towns are most concerned about flooding.

Here it comes. The rain is beginning and it’s very dark outside.

@Benedick: Where are you again? I’m at 74th and Amsterdam at the back of the building, so I’m exposed to exactly nothing.

I just wanted to let you know that I think you’re all the way beautiful. Not just pretty, but, you know, smart and kindhearted. And if I were a lot younger, I would marry you, and we would have chubby little freckled-faced kids…

Every day for the rest of your life, you would thank God that I was the appropriate age for you. But I’m not. I’m 49. I have lines on my face, sometimes a little gray in my beard, and it takes me a little longer to pee than it used to. Those are the only discernible signs of aging that I can find so far.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how I felt. You’re pretty special, and I wish you continued success and artistic fulfillment, but most of all, I wish you love and contentment. That’s all.

I was a huge Jim Carrey fan. Now I’m not sure if I should be flattered, or seek an order for protection? ;) lol

“Yes, my msg to Emma Stone was a comedy routine and the funniest part is that everything i said is tru. “

Ms Still (in DC) seems to be doing pretty well. She just sent out a pretty cheery communique suggesting that the District was likely to be spared serious shit.

I hope the other Stinquers make out as well.

@blogenfreude: We’re up near Woodstock.

Rain has stopped and it’s an OK evening.

@Benedick: @Walking Still: I think the real wet and wind is still 12 hours or so away.

tornado ans flash flood warnings here. about to lose power. yay

You can watch a livestream of Irene in NYC for those of you who can’t enjoy the fun directly.

ADD: Kind of like watching paint dry, but wetter.

I’m happy to say that in SE Mass Irene was pretty much of a bust. High winds, no cell phone and no electric for four hours, but Lucy and I survived the ordeal by staying calm and laying on the couch, reading with the assistance of natural daylight coming in through the open window.

Not a lot of rain, which I appreciated because Lucy’s got a gastrointestinal upset and had me outside four times between 8 am and 1 pm. The wind was only moderately blowy with an occasional tetchy gust.

home. some stuff is great, some a mess. getting here was nuts. high tide in a few hours. sleep now.
