Thank You For Your Service, Terrorists

That 9/11 first-responders bill that finally passed last winter? There’s a catch:

The tens of thousands of cops, firefighters, construction workers and others who survived the worst terrorist assault in U.S. history and risked their lives in its wake will soon be informed that their names must be run through the FBI’s terrorism watch list.

Credit goes to Florida GOP congresscritter Cliff Stearns, who tacked on the provision last May:

“This amendment was adopted in the full Energy and Commerce Committee without opposition and it merely requires that the names of those receiving health benefits be cross-checked with the terrorist watch list to ensure that no terrorists get these benefits,” Stearns said.

Additional credit goes to the Demrats who let the amendment pass during a voice vote.

Update: Stinque Asshole of the Year Pam Geller provides her unique take on the story:

OBAMA VICTIMIZES THE 9/11 VICTIMS

Asks Geller, “My question is, why?” Perhaps if she read the rest of the HuffPo story she conveniently cuts off in her post, she might have an answer.

I wonder what would happen to Congress if the no asshole rule were applied there.

Just reading the “No Asshole Rule” on my day off. So far interesting reading. Just getting to the ugly part about stopping your inner asshole from coming out.

@ManchuCandidate: not being an asshole is awful hard to do as there are so many button pushers out there.
very few manage to pull that off. jesus christ and johnny cash come to mind as being successful. the original jesus christ, not the new fangled republican’t one.
