Maybe the Krotch Brothers will pay for the funeral.

Wait, is this Wisconsin or Libya?

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: Very against it but suspect I’ll be in the minority.

@Benedick: I am against it as well. The death penalty should be reserved for threats against the body politic only, terrorists, traitors and the like.

@Benedick: I hadn’t given the death penalty much thought until high school, when we began discussing the Constitution in a semi-intelligent way, and even then — putting the morality of it completely aside — I wasn’t altogether convinced that it constituted “cruel and unusual punishment” (I still held stock in the idea that it was reserved for duly-sentenced, irredeemably bad people), but then I went off to a Quaker college and my much older, wiser sister gifted me a Scott Turow book, and all of my skepticism disappeared.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: So now she can become a martyr for those assholes? Wonder if she’ll waive all rights to appeal, since the RWers normally are bitching and moaning about prisoners exercising their habeas and appellate rights.

Gaddafi should watch the video of Ceausesco and his wife being machine-gunned to death.

@Tommmcatt is with Karin Marie on This One: I don’t think anything should get that penalty. Ever. Maybe Julie Taymor.

@mellbell: I’m all kinds of up Quaker ass. If you know what I mean. A remarkable and noble tradition.

@SanFranLefty: That’s how we do it here.

Did we know in some of Scandinavia we don’t imprison anyone for more than 27 years? Also, BTW, this Benedick. He say he will skype me then he never does. I am told he is a most unusually attractive man, yah? That he is brilliant in the head goes without saying.

@mellbell: This is my view exactly. Regardless of one’s views on the morality of efficacy (in terms of deterrence) of the death penalty, once you’ve seen a few criminal cases tried you won’t want anything near as important as a human life decided that way.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: I’m also against the death penalty–except in this case in which she should’ve gotten the Super-Duper Death Penalty and the only disappointment is that the sentence can only be carried out once.

@¡Andrew!: Me too. I was really hoping for hanging, drawing, and quartering.
