When You’re as Stupid as We Are, It’s Hard to be Civil

If White House Was Surprised by Applause at Tucson Pep Rally… Why Did They Ask For It On Jumbotron?

Pam Geller, Stinque’s 2010 Asshole of the Year:

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that they were surprised by the applause at the memorial pep rally on Wednesday for the victims of the Tucson shootings…

Grotesque.

The Simple Explanation: Closed-captioning for the arena audience.

I’m amazed these people know how to turn on a computer and find their way to the internet.

They’re pining for the good old days of the Bush administration:

Remember when America had a REAL President?

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: The decade before that wasn’t much better. I was alive when JFK was in office, but I don’t remember it.

From the “it will never get any better” dept:

A week after the deadly shooting in Tucson, Arizona, a man who had been shot at the scene made a death threat against a Tea Party spokesman at a town hall event sponsored by ABC News. The man, J. Eric Fuller, was reportedly irritated by the remarks of two of the event’s speakers, Republican Rep. Terri Proud and Tucson Tea Party spokesman Trent Humphries. He snapped a picture of Humphries and said, “You’re dead.” Police immediately escorted him from the room. The event, hosted by Christiane Armanpour and taped for an ABC News special, was titled, After the Tragedy: An American Conversation Continued.

At least he only shot a camera.

It’s not like they’re going to give Obamer his due (did any of us give W his? I sure as hell didn’t but then again outside of those brief months after 9/11 he never did anything that made sense to me.) Hell, they ground their teef (sic) when Clintstone did well. This is just a double insult to them. Black and intelligent.

@Mistress Cynica:
I’d be rather curious as to what the two said to piss him off.

But, yes, the crazy never ends.

@karen marie has her eyes tight shut: Christiane’s moved to ABC.

Neither Fuller nor the teabagger were on the panel; both were in the audience.

Fuller’s also the dude who was incomprehensibly unforgiving during an interview the other day about being shot, and is now gaining on the Sheriff for wingnut opprobrium. I think our National Time-Out is over.

Okay, fine — it was over before night fell last Saturday. Work with me, people!

@nojo: Fuller probably has serious PTSD.

@Nabisco: Jesus Christ, it’s been a whole week — get over it, already!

@nojo: Panel/audience, ABC/CNN — he shouldn’t have been there. That’s just plain fucked up.

And Humphries is a fucking asshole.

@karen marie has her eyes tight shut: Details aside, I’m squeamish about a network helicoptering in for a healing session. The local affiliate — hey, it’s KGUN again! — had to get special permission to run the show twice tomorrow.

@nojo: @karen marie has her eyes tight shut: @nojo: I should have said “They all must have serious PTSD, what was ABC thinking?.

Didn’t know Christianne joined ABC. Ironic then that I just watched a piece on AlJez about Karadzic that featured some of her finest work.

@Nabisco: To be specific, she took over This Week Without the Little Clintonista. I’m not sure about the rest of her contract.

@nojo: A “healing session” would be an hour at the spa or a group hug or wound dressing. This was a five-year-old seeing how close he could get to gasoline-soaked paper with a match before it caught fire.
