I’m going to laugh when it turns out Whitman threw away .1% of her fortune trying to buy a CA Senate seat. Then I’m going think a little more and cry when I realize that she only threw away .1% of her fortune trying to buy a CA Senate seat.

That’s a lot of Beanie Babies and Star Trek Collector Plates.

@Serolf Divad: Someone on Twitter noted she could buy the Assembly for that price.

Someone isn’t paying enough taxes.

@nojo: Are you kidding? For 1 % of what she’s spent, she could have both houses of the Cal legislature in her tailored pocket for a generation.

Her next career will be as a Bond villian.

@nojo: Why not just buy off the Board of Elections? I’m sure they could “find” some ballots for her.

Words fail:

A former real estate agent drove with the partially mummified body of a homeless woman in the passenger seat of her car for several months, according to a report.

[snip]

They … found the body, along with a box of baking soda which had been used to reduce the odor.

“This person was somewhat used to the smell,” Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Ed Everett said.

[snip]

Officers were investigating whether the driver had committed any health code violations, the Register reported, but she had not been arrested or cited.

@karen marie wants to know — Fucking integrity, how does it work?: Was she using the corpse to qualify for the carpool lane? Because that would totally make sense.

@Mistress Cynica: That’s what I thought too, but apparently she kept the woman hidden under a pile of clothes instead of propped up Bernie-style.

@ Cynica: As soon as I saw Orange County and mummified remains in the passenger seat, I instantly thought “car pool cheat.”

@Jamie: Rangers in the World Series – still going to cheer against them (and hopefully for the Giants)?

@Mistress Cynica: @TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: @SanFranLefty: Well, that’s four of us. Another explanation is better delivered by the ‘Saw: she used it to point out other “options” available to prospective homebuyers when they balked at the commissions she was charging.

SFL: no ex-Pirates on the Rangers, so I’ll either root for the SF Lefties, or continue to forget about baseball for another seasonfew years.

@SanFranLefty: always been a dodgers fan so it pains me to pull for the giants. however it pains me much worse to pull for something w once was involved with. so, go giants. will lincecum get the start in game one and maybe 2 other starts if it goes that far? is anyone familiar with the saga of josh hamilton, rangers star and possibly the best player in major league ball? he fights a continual battle with the buzz catching. at least the yankees aren’t playing anymore.
