A Civilization in Decline, Chapter MMMCDLVII

All of Mariah Carey’s dreams have come true, now that four types of Hello Kitty wine are set to hit the market. For who knows drinks better than a tiny cat without a mouth, eh? [Jezebel]

on the whole decline thing, just got this:

Obama Finds Legal Way Around The 2nd Amendment And Uses It.
If This Passes, There Will Be WAR
Just got this…pass it far & wide.
On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States
On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms.

The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.

This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

Read the Article

of course if you actually, you know, READ the attached article its obviously talking about international arms sales.

Im so sick of this shit

I pity the poor kitties who died making the wine.

Er, it’s made from grapes, not supposedly cute but actually kind of freaky anamorphic cats? What’s the point!

@ManchuCandidate:
if it was actually Hello Kitty “juice” they would not be able to keep in on the shelves.
bigger than gator aid

Now all we need is someone to produce G.I. Joe Condoms and we’re all set. First you get her in the mood with a bottle of cute, innocuous sounding Hello Kitty wine, then score while enjoying the protection that only a pack of G.I. Joe Condoms can afford (ultra thin kevlar, of course).

@Capt Howdy:
I didn’t realize that Minutemen ICBMs, Trident SLBMs and nuclear free fall bombs were covered under the 2nd Amendment.

@Serolf Divad:
What about Barbi Implants?

I think Ken Condoms would be a bad idea as Ken wasn’t known for his, um, unit.

@ManchuCandidate: I pity the poor Pinot Noir grapes tortured to make this sweet crap.
But for ultimate creepiness, there’s nothing like the Hello Kitty Vibrator.

@Serolf Divad: Remember when I blogged on camo duct tape? How could there not be camo condoms ….

@Mistress Cynica: Okay, I thought it was funny when I saw two people bothered to comment on the Hello Kitty Vibrator, but this comment made me howl:

I would like to start by saying that of all the Japanese animated vibrators I have owned this was by far the most disappointing. The pink bow added no stimulation whatsoever and the ears were down right painful. After 5 completely unsatisfying uses I returned the item and went back to using my old friend pikachu.

@SanFranLefty: I saw that, but it was so sad I wanted to pretend I hadn’t.

I really don’t mind Hello Kitty wine. I like silliness. Can’t be worse than jug wine, and in the big scheme of things, compared to how the vast majority of humans who ever lived, have lived, compared to their standard of living, we are damn lucky we can buy a 3 liter jug of Carlo Rossi Burgundy for about the price of one hour’s work at minimum wage, its paradise, compared to grinding poverty, constant low level starvation, and an early death, which has been the fate of the vast majority of all humans who have ever lived.

To me, the most dangerous sign of the decline of civilization is the increasing number of people who ascribe to Randian libertarianism, who reject all collective activity for the common good, and who believe in a sociopathic view that the weak and the slow deserve just to fail and be left to die in the gutter, while the crafty and strong deserve to just grab all they can and owe no obligation back to society at all.

Its not only sociopathic and immoral, its beyond stupid, they fail to see this is the reason so many nations on this earth exist in hopeless grinding poverty. Its because the cultures of these places don’t believe in strong and honest government, and instead, its steal, grift, and grab all you can, with government being more like a mafia than a government, dedicated not to the common good, but to power and enriching those who hold the power.

And we are nearly there, what prosperity the common working people in this country still have, its just because we are so fucking rich, in the grand scheme of things, that even our powerless, still have something.

@Promnight: I agree with what you wrote. I ran across a quote of Marcus Aurelius today. He wrote thousands of years ago, “Very little is needed to make a happy life.” That may explain why so many people who appear to us to live in abject poverty describe themselves as much happier than most Americans. The view expressed so eloquently on bumper stickers that He who dies with the most toys wins appears to be the gospel of today’s America. Because we’re so focused on acquisition for ourselves we can’t possibly afford to share anything with anyone less fortunate. Thus the less privileged are subjected to mockery to cover up those last nagging feelings of responsibility and guilt. A perfect example was the Parkinson’s victim last week.

@Dave H: Those with next to nothing may be happier; when you have nothing, you don’t have to live with the nagging fear of losing what you have, thats the real motivator that makes so many of us, me at least, keep going to a soulless job, giving so much of our life force and time to the chase for things, and missing out on our children, people, social activity. My mom and dad, they both grew up in abject poverty, truly, hungry, so when I was growing up, and they had just decent working class jobs, but we had food, a decent place to live, clothes, a car, they were happy and I never saw them worry, the way I do, at losing it, because well, we could live at that level no matter where they were working, what they were doing, and they had seen so much worse, it was good times to them.

@Dave H: I enjoy Marcus Aurelius, but in the end, ya know, its kinda hard to take lectures in stoicism and simplicity from a fucking Roman Emporer, if you know what I mean. Its like if Bill Gates gave me a lecture on being happy with what you have, its purely intellectual to him, its not a choice, to me, its reality.

@karen marie:
amusing….. the guy wrapped head to toe in camo, caressing his AK47 and sounding like darth vader says, “i’m just a simple militant.”

i’ll remind you karen…ohio is on my no fly list. bakettes daddy went to kent state and dodged bullets sent by our government. ohio is dead to me.

@Dave H: @Promnight:

marcus aurelius=forrest gump?

“my mama says all you need to be happy is a roof over your head, clothes on your back, and food on the table. all the rest is showing off.”

Sad news from Georgia about a cute gay kid who wants to take his boyfriend to the prom. Not only did his parents kick him out of the house, the town held a rally against him and he’s received death threats. Also, his dad is the school’s math teacher, so he has to see the evil fuck everyday.

How could someone do that to their only child?

He’s also an honors student who wants eventually to go to law school. This’ll make one helluva an application essay.

Today’s drinking will definitely double.

@Original Andrew: It killed me that what he’s most worried about is hiring security. I hope his parents enjoy the crappy nursing home a Ga teacher’s retirement will cover. Then they’ll wish they’d been accepting of their only child.
He’s planning a rally of support on April 10th. Please let the entire Atlanta gay men’s chorus show up.

@Original Andrew: Shit like that just breaks my heart. I think there’s a special place in hell for parents who throw out their kids for being gay.

Paging cubbie: How far away is this from the ATL?

@SanFranLefty: Cochran is about 2- 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta. Go south on I-75 then east on I-16 toward Savannah. Macon is the closest big city (no oasis of tolerance there, as I graduated from high school there). This story is big in Atlanta and the poor guy is getting a lot of support here.

This also demonstrates why Atlanta is pretty much the only place (other than Savannah, and that’s questionable) in the state where you can feel free to be very open about who you are. I admire this kid’s courage, because I wanted to try this when I was in high school and I was urged not to do so by so many, many parties. (It was all just the same because I spent my life in the newsroom of the local fishwrap during my free time.)

I will give this though: there is a two year college in Cochran where the local lesbians are pretty brave and I think they’re a very, very protective bunch.

@Mistress Cynica: I think they’ve honored him and I know they’ve been touring around the state.

@rptrcub: I am so amazed and moved by the courage of gay kids like him and Constance in Mississippi for standing up to the hateful bullshit. To look for a silver lining, I think it does indicate some progress since you were a young cub in H.S.

So glad to hear that the folks in Atlanta are supporting him on this. I wish someone from PFLAG could talk some sense into his parents.
