Scott Roeder convicted of murdering abortion doctor George Tiller [LAT]

But but but it was going to be a show trial! The media was to be obsessed with the nobility of cold-blooded murder in defense of a cell glob! America’s conscience was to have been aroused!

An obscure 20 years or so in a dusty prison cell is just what this guy needs. Here’s hoping the judge has the foresight to curtail any access to the internet.

He’ll love it. He can hang out with other people who needed to murder folks for very important reasons, like some friendly neighborhood neonazi mass murderers.

@SanFranLefty: It’s Illinois baby. It’s just how it’s done. I just took a bribe from a mob-affiliated state contractor this morning.

@homofascist: Oh, is that what you Chicago ghey boyz are calling it these days?

I’m surprised to took 37 minutes. There must’ve been a fight over who would be the foreman.

@redmanlaw: Oh, but the “if you abort your baby, it won’t grow up to be an overrated Heisman Trophy winner” ad is hunky dory.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: And they spent the last twenty minutes debating whether it was too soon to come back out.

Sadly, he succeeded in his ultimate goal of permanently closing Tiller’s clinic, leaving women in Kansas virtually no options outside of KC.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: They were trying to get lunch and full-day per diem.

I’m thinking we should have a death penalty for anti-abortion protesters who are doctor killers (it’s a federal crime to kill a mailman btw) but it would draw too many to their martyrdom.

@SanFranLefty: That’s some nice reporting by John Cook. I wonder what made him do an FOIA request for Hyde’s file.

Sadly, Bill O’Reilly was not convicted as an accomplice.

@Mistress Cynica: Not just women in Kansas – women from across the country went to his clinic because he was one of about five doctors in the United States who publicly acknowledged that he performed third-trimester abortions. Most OB/GYNs who perform abortions won’t or can’t do 3rd trimester abortions for liability reasons and for the very reason that doing so paints a bullseye on themself and their families.

A significant percentage of his patients were women who had been referred to him by out-of-state doctors after horrific fetal abnormalities had been discovered, women who were diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy, and very young girls who had been raped and didn’t understand that they were pregnant until the 3rd trimester.
