TJ/Dreamy Postman USA Data Ad again. Aaaaahhhh….

@Tommmcatt the Wet Sprocket:

I’m getting an Israeli tourism ad with the (ironic?) unfortunate slogan “Visit Israel: You’ll Never Be the Same.”

You mean like from the bombings or the PTSD?

Reminds me of that SARS-era classic “Hong Kong Will Take Your Breath Away.”

@Original Andrew:

Baked seems to have a great time in Israel. Is it really that unsafe there? I’d kinda like to go sometime….

@Tommmcatt the Wet Sprocket:

Well they’ve had two major conflicts in like two years, and there’s sporadic gun and rocket fire, but I guess it depends on what part of the country you’re in. An acquaintance of mine had a fine time there last year, and I’m sure baked could tell you the best places to stay, etc.

Plus–OMG!–you could visit baked!

@Original Andrew:

Getting baked with Baked is kind of a life goal for me.

@Tommmcatt the Wet Sprocket: You and me both. T&C was a more attractive destination, though there seems to be lots of yummy man candy in Jerusalem. Oh, and I’m getting a “Tom Campbell for Governor” ad. Interesting since you’re in CA too…

@SanFranLefty:

hay, kinda OT, but from your perspective as a bringer-of-law do you think that this marijuana thing of Schwarzenegger’s has a chance of becoming law? What happens with the Feds in that case?

I’d LOVE to work on packaging for marijuana. Just sayin’…

@SanFranLefty:

Cynica had an absolutely brilliant idea in another thread about baked travelling up the Left Coast from San Diego to Seattle for multiple Stinque-ups. Like she could rent a car and drive up the glorious Highway 101.

I think there may be an Amtrak route that’s similar as well.

Come to think of it, why don’t I do that?? (gears begin turning)

@Tommmcatt the Wet Sprocket:
I think that if the ballot measures fail next week as predicted, the more than $1 billion with a B in revenue a year that legalizing pot would bring into state coffers due to taxing it will be considered much more seriously and Arnie would sign the bill if it passes out of the Assembly and Senate. (said bill sponsored by my state rep, Tom Ammiano, former SF Supe and memorable cameo in Milk).

Black Eagle already told the feds to stop raiding the pot clubs, at least that’s what has been on the news here in NorCal. Has DEA chilled out with the El-Ay pot clubs?

@Original Andrew: I saw Cynica’s suggestion. There is a train route, but Hwy 1 is even better. It’s preferable to go from south to north on it though, because that way you’re a little closer to the mountains on the curves and not on the side of the highway closest to the drop-off over the cliffs.

@SanFranLefty: And don’t forget to stop at Pea Soup Andersen’s in Buellton!

Okay, private joke. They used to promote themselves like Burma Shave.

Carmina Burana (the music) has been a running gag between me and the minions at the music-festival website I geek.

But these days when I hear it, I think of the Jackass movie opening.

@SanFranLefty:

Yeah, there hasn’t been a raid since Bush left office. They are getting VERY relaxed down here. The one I go to is like a little boutique…display cases, live jazz, the works. Very civilized, not like Utah liquor stores at all.

@nojo: Solvang was always my favorite central California stop when I was a kid.

@SanFranLefty: @nojo:

Remember The Coffee Tree up by Vallencia? That place was so cool, with the little train and the gingerbread cookies….

@Benedick:

Yeah, a little 4 piece band of hippies. Very cool.

@Tommmcatt the Wet Sprocket: You sure that’s not DodgerBlue and his klezmer band?

@nojo: There needs to be a stiff penalty for Carmina Burana abuse. I recall being in a classical music record store (when there were such things) when a guy came in and asked for “that music they were playing in “The Doors” movie. I had to explain to the proprietor that he meant Carmina.

@nojo, @Mistress Cynica: What was that sequel, Carmina Putana…?

@nojo: Anderson’s Pea Soup…a bit of the madeleine…there was a billboard off the 101 about a mile from where I grew up. For some reason, Solvang and Anderson’s Pea Soup are linked in my memory.
@SanFranLefty:
Solvang is a town for children. It’s magical then, when you’re an adult, it’s Disneyland.
Baked, I will be your LA woman connection, should you decide to do the California coast. And why wouldn’t you? It’s God’s country.

@cassandra_said: a bit of the madeleine

You reach a certain age, you start buying them by the case.
