Shouldn’t BCAA be called Failure’s Anonymous?

Their Two Step Self Help Program should be:
1) Denial
2) See 1)

I think I was supposed to apply for special hunts on Feb. 4. Thanks for the reminder. Still a long time to spring turkey, like 90 days or so.

Enhanced Interrogation Watch Party — Enjoy your favorite Gitmo moments, plus our new Blooper Reel!

Ed McMahon needs the work. Do not taunt him like this.

Oh: 9 days to pitchers and catchers. Whee!

Private memo to rptrcub: Could you please tell the state government types that you know and love to stop worrying about people drinking and smoking and having sex and engaging in other sorts of fun, and to tell them to concentrate on making sure that the peanuts they are shipping out do not, you know, kill us all? Plz kthxbai.

(Comment brought on by this article in re Georgia state legislator hammering Atlanta commuter school for having profs that talk about sex, provided by rptrcub through secret backchannels. Which are now no longer secret. Shoot.)

Holy Motherfucking Shit, this from Politico:

“Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

“When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.

Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.” ”

Motherfucking fucking vile fucking shitbag, he is playing with fucking fire, evil vile ratbastard motherfucker, this is a fucking shocking, unbelievably fucking wrong thing to say, on so many levels, for so many reasons, legal, moral, ethical, factual, political. Fucking fucking motherfuckers. He should be silenced. With extreme prejudice.

@Prommie: If anyone could engineer such an attack, it would be the Bush/Cheney oligarchy. If Dick knows so much, maybe he should be subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques.

Condoleezza Rice will perform John Cage’s 4′33″.
Comedy GOLD.

@chicago bureau: 9 days to pitchers and catchers. Whee!

Did HF hijack your account?

@Prommie: I’m no lawyer but this sounds like a threat and under the Patriot Act couldn’t Dick be rendered to some dank eastern European dungeon from the middle ages for sounding like a terr-or -ist? Just sayin’.

@Mistress Cynica, @WonkRefugee: Sounds like a threat to me, too. And I would take it seriously, since he’s done it before.

nojo: No. I’m about ready to surrender to this winter and bitch and moan about HOW FUCKING COLD IT IS. That’s how bad it’s been.

One who lives in Chicago does not usually complain about the weather in winter, for one is used to it being cold, and usually cracks jokes about how others cannot function with the cold (e.g. Washington shutting down because its snowplows — both of them — cannot handle flurries; Londoners all aghast at three inches of snow; etc.). But one can only take so many days where the windchill is 20 below or worse.

And so the prospect of spring (evidenced by spring training) is somehow more exciting to me this year.

Santa Fe: Clear, 40 F, warming up to 56 F. Clear, sunny and warm through the weekend. Feels like March outside. A fleece vest was enough to keep warm at lunch. We could use some more snowpack in the mountains though, so the fish aren’t carrying canteens this summer and to keep the fire danger down.

Must we? Heck, that’s why we pay the rent here…

Sandy Eggo: High 74, Low 54.

Suckaz.

@nojo:
Toronto

Currently -13C Low -17C but with wind chill it will feel like -22C
Suckers… wha?

It was downright balmy in DC this weekend, with highs in the mid-50s or so. Less so now, though we’ll have a reprise this weekend, if the forecast holds.

@nojo: We had frost this AM, but it was almost 70 this afternoon, and sunny (as it has been for over a week).

Benedick could give a more accurate SF weather report than I.

Very balmy here in Ess Eff, at least when I left the house at 6 am. Thick Tule fog in the Central Valley. 60s this evening and I was schvetzing after dropping off the Zip Car and walking home.

Lucky for us we’re getting some much needed rain before we’re in total drought and the Tahoe resorts go bankrupt.
