The North American Fellatio Trade Agreement

I swallow.Title: “Flight of the Eagle: The Grand Strategies That Brought America from Colonial Dependence to World Leadership”

Author: Conrad Black

Rank: 17

Blurb: “Like an eagle, American colonists ascended from the gulley of British dependence to the position of sovereign world power in a period of merely two centuries. Seizing territory in Canada and representation in Britain; expelling the French, and even their British forefathers, American leaders George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson paved their nation’s way to independence. With the first buds of public relation techniques — of communication, dramatization, and propaganda — America flourished into a vision of freedom, of enterprise, and of unalienable human rights.”

Review: “I checked his biography and was surprised to learn that he is a citizen of Canada.”

I’m sure the pompous imperialist wannabe is surprised too.

Conrad Black was a Canadian citizen, having renouced it for British citizenship in order to accept a peerage the odious Tony Blair arranged for him. He wanted, of course, to serve his time in a Canadian prison as opposed to one here, but Canada really didn’t want him back.

@blogenfreude:
That’s still quite hilarious.

Only when the blowhard realized that the Brits had an extradition treaty with US Amercia and Canada City did not.

From Freebird to jailbird. From sea to shining sea.

The cover looks disturbingly like the Trans Am Firebird.

Dept of I’m Going To Hell, continued: I switched subway lines at the Mon Kok station last night. It, of course, is just above Won Hung Lo.

“Gulley”? Is that some alternate spelling that I don’t know about?

@Dodgerblue: I wish I could go! Alas, my husband knows I would never come back…

Seizing territory in Canada? Can anyone tell me when that happened? I’m also not clear when that whole seizing representation in Britain thing took place. We asked for it but I don’t remember us getting it.

When my wife and I bought our home did we really “expel” the previous owners? I think that was the deal between the fledgeling US and the French who needed some quick cash.

I imagine this is aimed toward the same people who thought renaming Freedom Fries was the absolute pinnacle of crushing those devil worshiping Catholic French.

@Dave H:
It didn’t.

US Amercia won the War of 1812 on the Sea, but did not win on the land. Queenston Heights, the capture of Detroit and other battles did not end well for US Amercia till the Battle of New Orleans which happened after the peace treaty was signed.

@blogenfreude: Hey. Why all the hate on Tone? He is a fine man of impeccable moral character. Also he is extremely attractive and a good dancer.

@Benedick: But is he as good at painting as Hitler?

So apparently Jimmy Carter declared that the US no longer has a functional democracy as reported by Der Spiegel. Big deal or not? It could be a mistranslation by the Googles:

Der ehemalige US-Präsident Jimmy Carter hat im Nachgang des NSA-Spähskandals das amerikanische politische System heftig kritisiert. “Amerika hat derzeit keine funktionierende Demokratie”, sagte Carter am Dienstag bei einer Veranstaltung der “Atlantik-Brücke” in Atlanta.

How does one say “wake up, sheeple!!!” in German?
