Cheney, Gonzo Indicted

Vice President Cheney and Former Attorney General Gonzales Indicted [Think Progress]

Lost in all the election news (at least to me) was the fact that Christopher Shays (R-CT) lost his seat:

NORWALK – Democrat Jim Himes rode history and Barack Obama‘s coattails to victory Tuesday in the 4th Congressional District, unseating Christopher Shays.

For the first time since the founding of the GOP in 1854, New England will be without a Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Remember Chris Shays?

Looks like I get my wish:

Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse the president on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.

A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.

I have advocated something like this since Bush was “reelected” in 2004.

I’m sorry, but I’m really enjoying this.

The first public poll of Alaska conducted entirely after GOP Sen. Ted Stevens was convicted on all counts in his corruption trial shows a probable Democratic pickup in this deep-red state — but Stevens is doing surprisingly well for a newly-minted convicted felon.

Call me a bad person, but this is fun.

The new numbers from Rasmussen: Dem candidate Mark Begich 52%, Stevens 44%, with a ±4.5% margin of error. Three weeks ago, Uncle Ted had taken a 49%-48% edge over Begich. So apparently getting convicted of a felony a week before the election can be quantified as taking five points off of a candidate’s poll numbers.

More after the jump.

The Talibunny has forsaken him.  The Psychogeezer says he should resign. The head of the NRSC calls his conviction a “disgrace“. Even Mitch “My Old Kentucky Homo” McConnell has had enough.  But the Hulk vows to smash everything in his bid for another Senate term:

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) is returning to Alaska tomorrow to resume his re-election campaign, “despite being convicted of felonies that carry the potential of years in prison.” “It’s not over yet!” Stevens said yesterday. “You’ve got that right,” said his wife, Catherine Stevens.

And the best part?  Ted can’t even vote for himself

That’s a voter purge we can be proud of, my friends.

An update from The General after the jump:

DEVELOPING HARD: Geezer puts the brakes on in Minnesoda.

Quotable:  “I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments and I will respect him –” at which point the audience boos and he goes “no, no, I want everyone to be respectful…”

Guy in audience says that he’s scared of an Obama presidency.  McCain shoots back: “he is a decent person, and a person you do not have to be scared of as President of the United States.”  Cries of anguish from the audience.  Really.

And then a lady calls him an Arab, and Geezer actually grabs the microphone away and slams her.

Watch the video. He sounds sad and resigned to what the last week has been like, and knows that it is wrong to go down this path. Thus, please expect the Rev. Wright ad to go into heavy spin on Monday.
