Kubrick could have come up with a sexier dog costume, is all.

@Tommmcatt Says Pull My Finger: Actually “syndicated” from PandoDaily, where I read it last night.

Pando’s something of a Silicon Valley booster site, so there’s a lot of background context to that post. Still, I think Paul Carr’s on the money with it — I don’t read this version of Valleywag (it’s gone through a few twists), but every time Sam Biddle comes to my attention, it’s unpleasant and not particularly enlightening.

@nojo:
It’s why I don’t mind Valleywag. I’m a cynical veteran of the last tech bubble when too many bidniz sites and “legit” news sources spent waay too much time hyping bullshit startups and companies (including my not so dearly departed former employer and poster child of corprat/tech hubris.)

Some of it is rather harsh, but a lot of tech nerds need a good sharp tap to the noggin, too.

Speaking of Bubble Bath…

Saw Wolf of Wall St. I guess it would be an NC-17 here in US Amercia with all the frontal nudity (female), fucking swearing and explicit drug use (coke and quaaludes). Interesting movie but overly long… about 1/2 hour too long. I guess Scorsese can be self indulgent.

I have to laugh after an argument a month ago with my mom who told me that my cousin the investment banker works really hard and is stressed out. Sure he is, I would be too if my job was keeping the hamsters (investors/suckers) on the wheel (the market.)

@ManchuCandidate: Apparently it is R-rated. Given your description, I wonder if its being (to my understanding) a cautionary tale played a role there, since its intent is not to glamorize or excuse those things. Then again, there really is no telling with the MPAA, who have been known to slap a PG rating on completely harmless children’s films because they contain “quirky situations.” Heaven forfend a child should be exposed to such things!

@mellbell:
The 1st half is not cautionary tale in that the dude goes all batshit hedoistic what you would expect Wall St to be but the 2nd half is although there are folks who question that (and they have a point.)

NC-17 requires a penis.

@nojo:
I guess Dicaprio’s ass doesn’t count or the /spoiler/
