Washington Post article headlined “Bush Clings to Dubious Allegations About Iraq” notes, “As the Bush administration prepares to attack Iraq this week, it is doing so on the basis of a number of allegations against Iraqi President Saddam Hussein that have been challenged—and in some cases disproved—by the United Nations, European governments and even U.S. intelligence reports.” Story is buried on Page A13.

Ten years ago today George W. Bush and others took us to war and thereby committed treason. Hundreds of thousands died, including innocent Iraqis and soldiers from this country and others. $2.2 trillion dollars later, Iraq is in worse shape than ever. And no one has been held responsible.

Haunting.

Sigh.

“Tim, because I really do believe that we will be greeted as liberators.”

“When it comes to reconstruction, before we turn to the American taxpayer, we will turn first to the resources of the Iraqi government and the international community.”

And where’s the weapons of mass destruction, Iraqi War Supporters?

I am torturing myself by reading neocon Iraq war apologist “10 Years On” retrospectives today:

Frum
Kristol
Wolfowitz

It’s my penance for being among the 70% that supported the war going in. Colin Powell waving that anthrax vial at the UN put me over the edge in ’03. By the ’04 election I knew we were scammed and supported Kerry. Powell still pisses me off every time I see him.

so sad. no monica lewinsky. no w. no 9-11 attack. no iraq invasion. no world wide depression. no tea party.

@jwmcsame: The hummer felt ’round the world…

@SanFranLefty: maybe michele bachmann can mention the blue dress next time she confounds the history of the american revolution. something like the boston tea partiers waved the stained blue fabric at the redcoats when they rode with paul revere across the delaware to defeat the tyrant king george at valley forge. little bit of a rhyme there at the end so everybody can remember it better. i’m sure fox news can run with this.

Attn Stinque Legal Eagles: Holy. Fucking. Benchslap.

Kozinski rips a new one for the federal district court judge in AZ and just about everyone else in that state. Best part:

The clerk of our court shall send copies of this opinion to the United States Attorney for the District of Arizona and to the Assistant United States Attorney General of the Civil Rights Division, for possible investigation into whether Saldate’s conduct, and that of his supervisors and other state and local officials, amounts to a pattern of violating the federally protected rights of Arizona residents.

I’ve just started reading a book about fucked up Arizona justice called Manifest Injustice, holy caca.

ADD: I haven’t had time to go on ATL in a while and the previous story popped up in my reader for a different reason, but it led me to this story of how Justices Sotomayor and Breyer totally fucking bench slapped an AUSA in Texas. Ouch. Any time something written by a Supreme Court justice closes with “I hope never to see a case like this again.” consider yourself bench-slapped. At least she had the courtesy to not name him in the statement.

@SanFranLefty: I’m still basking in the glow of our EssEff Federal Judge’s ruling last week. It’s almost like we have a third branch of government. Who knew?

@libertarian tool: She’s one of my top three judges in the N.D.Cal.

And what about the Ess Eff federal judge who threw out the masturbaters’ nudists’ lawsuit challenging Supervisor (ahem) Weiner’s legislation not letting them walk around the Castro “adjusting” their cockrings in the Peet’s and at Cliff’s Hardware?

And holy fuck, if you haven’t seen Argo, see it. Watching it now – probably the best script I’ve been exposed to since Tinker Tailor, or Usual Suspects. Stunning.

Authorities On Alert As Hundreds Of Crazed Sociopaths Enter Congressional Chambers

“While we cannot say at this time what they want, these men and women are ruthless, highly dangerous, and are not to be trusted under any circumstances,” said D.C. police officer Ted Wallerman, who said law enforcement officials would continue to monitor the known sociopaths throughout the day. “Unlike normal human beings such as you or I, these individuals are essentially incapable of experiencing remorse for their actions, so there’s no telling what insane ends they’ll go to in order to satisfy their lust for power.”

“Hopefully we can find a way to reason with them and end this situation peaceably,” Wallerman added. “But it’s never easy negotiating with maniacs.”

@libertarian tool: Missed YOU! I knew the basketballs would bring you back.

Some of us would like to see the hammaconda in that flight suit instead of a pair of socks.
