Title: “Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America”

A chapter on Plato’s Republic buried in the pages of another Right-wing screed? LOL, this is clearly one of those books that was written in such a way to make dumb people feel smart (like Jonah Goldberg’s Fascism book). Too bad Levin’s carefully laid plans are undone by the fact that today’s GOP is peopled by morons who celebrate their ignorance, scorn academics and other educated people and who insist that any piece of legislation that runs more than three pages and contains language above the 3rd grade level is perforce suspect. People like this won’t be impressed by a superficial summary of Plato’s Republic. Rather it will repel them.

Apparently in Levin-land “American exceptionalism” has been replaced by “hey, me and my buddies are gonna shit in your mouth – and you’re gonna like it, K?”

@al2o3cr: In this primary season, it’s not just shit, it’s santorum.

I’ve come across this fucking guy on local Hate Radio when I’m waxing skis late at night in the garage and looking for coasttocoastam.com, the inferior successor to the old Art Bell show. It reconfirms one’s belief in evolution, and raises the possibility that maybe mouth breathing knuckle draggers could one day have a shot at humanity.

I’m pretty much over recreational reading of conspiracy sites now, btw. It seems that everything that was once considered the hidden truth about elites, “fiat money”, etc. is all out there in open discussion. Reptilians and aliens must feel left out of the discussion, although Reptilians come in at the far end of the “Wall Street/Federal Reserve/Elites/Illuminati” thread. All that stuff makes up the bulk of the History Channel’s programming now.

The smug expression just begs one and all to soak a two by four in transmission fluid for a week and swing it into his face.

TJ/ (but consistent with the post title). Steve Tyler sings the National Anthem. I guess, to Middle America, American Idol excuses four+ decades of unhinged debauchery.

Music note – Not in the Roseanne Barr league, but he has no high notes left and hasn’t figured out how to fake it.

@Serolf Divad: In my experience dumb people tend to feel smart no matter what is presented to them, but I see your point.

Reference any of the works of the great and powerful Sarah Palin… she could have cribbed Cream of Mushroom soup recipies from the back of the can and had that be the entire content of “Going Rogue” and she still would have been hailed as the greatest conservative thinker since Lee Atwater. See also: Gingrich, Newt.

It seems clear that this clown is a perfect example of right winged hate being subsidized by some group The Koch boys or whatever because his program is SOOOOOOON TERRIBLE that when ever I come across it which is not often but still….there are brief moments when I hear that voice and can listen for about 10 seconds or less and I am gone. He is always yelling always hateful always shallow and just a very annoying prson. He must have a clause in his contract that says he cannot be fired unless he is found in bed with a dead 11 year old boy.
