Rick Perry’s Texas Slurpee

“Perry makes a $150,000 annual gross salary as Texas govenor. Now, thanks to his early retirement, Perry, 61, gets a monthly retirement annuity of $7,698 before taxes, or $6,588 net. That raises his gross annual salary to more than $240,000.” No, he’s not quitting. Just “retiring”. [Texas Tribune, via Political Wire]

That buys a lot of rentboys.

Just saying…

So Mr Cyn got laid off today. Happy Holidays!!

With any luck it’s just seasonal–they told him to check back in February if he didn’t have a job yet.

@Mistress Cynica:
My sympathies. Currently trying not go crazy while looking for work, myself. Easier said than done.

@ManchuCandidate: You’re an engineer, yes? Do any enviro work? Feel free to talk in the sandbox.

@Mistress Cynica, Manchu: Sport and politics pale next to the reality of joblessness. I hope you and yours are able to put their talents back to work soon.

Thanks, all. I’m trying to keep calm. Luckily, I got a nice year-end bonus which will help tide us over–it could be much, much worse.

And let’s not forget that Ayn Rand took Social Security and Medicare once she got lung cancer. Those damn entrepreneurs that sold her the cigarettes!

@Mistress Cynica: I’m so sorry dear. Hugs to both of you.

w/r/t Gov. GoodHair – he’s also got the state paying the $11K/month rent on a house in a gated community outside of Austin (and $11K monthly rent in Austin goes a long way and can get you a sweet place) while the Governor’s Mansion is rebuilt after a suspicious fire.
