Things We Would Probably Be Upset About If They Didn’t Involve Zombies
Republican zombies aren’t interested in brains.
@Jesuswalksinidaho: We have a winner!
Just saw George RR Martin at lunch. He saw that we recognized him (confirmed w/google images) but we left him alone.
Someone is going to get a little visit from the Secret Service.
@redmanlaw: Pete Hamill saw me recognize him in a restaurant and moved over to talk to me. I told him I’d enjoyed his commentaries in the Ric Burns film about New York.
@redmanlaw: Who? The guy who manned the audio board for the lads from Liverpool?
I should get out more often.
@flypaper: Dude wrote Game of Thrones “as seen on TV.”
@flypaper: Thank you for asking. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one here who doesn’t know who the heck these kids are talking about.
@Mistress Cynica: Seeing your comment, I want to make amends about my pontificating a few days? a week or so? back about Facebook’s being for adolescents, that grownups concentrate on their relationships with a “necessarily limited number of significant others.” I’m very backward cybernetically. Scarred too, by being married for 46 plus years to a man who, owing to innate tendencies toward schmoozing with his fellow human beings as his main sustenance (mine is books and one or a few persons possibly overwhelmed by my attentions) and a childhood history of his parents moving every few years to a different place (ranging from Hungry Horse, Montana, to Bremerton Navy Yard, Washington state, to Lockport, New York, to Massena, New York, to Nova Scotia, where his parents lived when I met him at his sophomore year at Harvard–his father was a civil engineer, not always so civil to his only son, either). Anyhow, we are all “poor burning Arabs” (the editor in me cites William Saroyan and My Name is Aram}. We must condole with and console one another, wherever kind souls appear in our lives.
@lynnlightfoot: sometimes the kind souls are thin on the ground (overgiven to palaver), then we must turn to Buddhist and Christian (tempted to lowercase both adjectives) calming devices.
@lynnlightfoot: I have been meaning to tell you that I really enjoy the way you write.
@redmanlaw: Dude has been waiting 30 years to become an overnight success. I read a story by him called “Sandkings” in Omni magazine in 1978 or 1979.
