Voodoo Economics Looks Pretty Good Right Now

Michele Bachmann: “For my tax plan, I take a page out of one of my great economists that I admire, Ronald Reagan. And under my tax plan I want to adopt the Reagan tax plan. It brought the economic miracle of the 1980s. Why not go with what works? I want to reinstitute the Reagan tax model from the 1980s.” PolitiFact: “The top [tax] rate dropped immediately to 50 percent in 1982 and stayed there through 1986.” [TPM]

Just when you think you understand how dumb she is.

And yet Midwestern idiots reelect her again and again. We deserve this.

Hey Lefty, want to discuss tonight’s Project Runway? I think the judges made the right call. Anya has my vote for best in show.

@Dodgerblue: Win the whole thing or this challenge? Viktor has to win the whole shebang; he’s head and shoulders about the rest of them.

@Dodgerblue: Anya is a striver, that’s for sure. And it’s not as though most high-end designers sew their own lines anyway. Still, as much as I, like the judges, have fallen prey to her beauty queen wiles, Viktor is incredibly talented. Josh has no taste, and Kimberly has lost her way, but I could see either one using the time away from the daily challenges to pull it together. In short, my heart is with Anya, but my head is with Viktor.

@Dodgerblue: @TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: @mellbell: Never saw an episode this season. I can’t find Lifetime on the teevee and I keep forgetting that PR is on Thursdays.

@SanFranLefty: I missed my dinosaur show on Monday (Terra Nova). Don’t know how I let that one slip by.

Shelley Oh! in purple at state dinner with South Korea. Dress looks great on her, her hair looks like she just got out of bed.

@mellbell: I think Anya is a poorly sewn version of Uli. I’m rooting for Kimberley to come back with the fierce after she’s had some time to rest. I just got the feeling that she was exhausted at the end of the run. But, all in all, this season belongs to Viktor.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ: Meanwhile, I’m discussing the finer points of BLM surface management maps and the availability of Forest Service and custom maps with big game unit overlays with a fellow hunter in the office.

@redmanlaw: Hey RML, do you know this firm? Kanji & Katzen. One of our former interns has an offer for mext summer. We can discuss offline if you’d like.

@mellbell: Agree. Viktor definitely has the chops, but I think Anya may have more imagination. I’m trying hard not to be totally charmed by Anya’s looks and accent, perhaps unsuccessfully. I’d like to see Tim throw Josh off a bridge.

@Dodgerblue: They are an Indian law firm in the midwest that we’ve had some dealings with in the past. I believe one of my partners has a pretty good opinion of them. I’ll let you know if I hear anything different.

@redmanlaw: The USGS has some pretty great maps, too.

@SanFranLefty: I got my USGS topo map yesterday for a place I found on a Forest Service map that I then checked out on google earth.
