Things Your Wife Shouldn’t Email to Carl Lewis

“Imagine, not having to pay NJ state income taxes… It must be nice. Imagine getting a court ruling overturned so your name could get put on the ballot. Imagine having dark skin and name recognition and the nerve to think that equalled (sic) knowing something about politics. Sure, knowing someone with fat purse strings is nice, but you have no knowledge.” Republican Assemblyman Pat Delany “abruptly resigned last month” after the missus pressed Send. Imagine actually making enough money to pay taxes. The End.

“And you suck at singling the National Anthem.”

“Uh oh! I’ll make up for it now.”

@redmanlaw: Oh, I’d forgotten about that. He went to the Robert Goulet School of Music.

@Dodgerblue: That Spangled song is very tough, huge range, and we seem to try to bury the tune under howling these days, the wilder the better. Do people here not actually know the tune and just try to make something up? And by ‘here’ I mean at Sport stadiums built at vast expense by unwitting taxpayers who would rather be at the opera.

I’m thinking Delany behaved with quite a lot of class, unless I’m missing something. But his wife shows us why one should walk away from the keyboard after, say, six or seven martinis. It never ends well.

I mean, the gall of some people – doesn’t he know that such a thing is exclusively reserved for WHITE people? (see also Donald “let’s take all the oil” Trump)

He doesn’t deserve this, and I hope he does well. However, Carl Lewis has always managed to take his accomplishments and find a way to diminish them. I fear the same could happen in this instance, except we are talking about New Jersey, so the bar is automatically lowered.

For the record, I am a aficionado of Sport. Not to the point I’ll paint my body in garish colors, just someone who actually watches for the occasional graceful and balletic moments of the athletes. Of course, I’m also a liberal Christian, so go figure.

@Benedick HRH KFC: An incredibly talented track and field athlete, once the fastest man in the world.
