Evening. A community center, upstate New York. Republican Congressman Chris Gibson rises to speak.

GIBSON: I think there’s a rational way to go forward that we’re going to be able to bring closure to this issue. I tell you there is one thing that you’re saying that’s true: There are people in our country that are not paying taxes because they’re illegal. And that’s gotta be addressed…

AUDIENCE MEMBER: You mean like GE?! (Laughter, light applause.)

GIBSON: Well, GE needs to pay their fair share, too. No, I support that, too.

And, scene. Thank you for supporting the arts.

Elsewhere in the arts, breaking news from my coffeehouse table: “My friend has never seen my poetry, never read my blog, anything. And he has the nerve to say I should write emo poetry.”

@nojo: What is an “emo”? I swear, these kids today.

@Tommmcatt Be Fat, And That Be That: Apparently there’s a thriving subculture of poetry devoted to the Australian Dromaius novaehollandiae.

@nojo: I would be ashamed. A joke like that. But clearly some of us around here have no shame. When all that poor Catt needed was to feel he hasn’t been entirely left behind. Is it right to mock him?

But bravo on the packaging, excellently well put together.

In other breaking news, this is as fantastic as it is dorky. So it should be right up everyone’s flash drive.

@Benedick is not as stupid as he looks.: “Futuristic, yes and surely expensive.” Words to live by.

@Tommmcatt Be Fat, And That Be That: I guess it’s like whiny teen pain, whereas goth is teen alienation with bat wings.

@SanFranLefty: In Beck’s defense, that’s how I enjoy it.
