Mama Grizzly Gets Into Squirmish with Hyenas

In a sure sign that the GOP is eating its young, Sarah Palin® is now under attack — from the Right. Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller — “Conservatives take on Palin for government-subsidized reality show” — has the play:

The company that produced Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s TLC reality show, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” received $1.2 million in state tax credits for filming in Alaska through a government program Palin signed into law as governor in 2008.

Okay, not much smoke there, never mind fire — state-subsidized filmmaking, like other business tax credits, is pretty much standard these days. But that didn’t stop the Tax Foundation from getting in a dig

We would be curious to know how government subsidies for reality TV fit into Palin’s broader view on the proper role of government.

Which was picked up by the Washington Examiner…

There’s a term in Washington for lawmakers or staff who create legislation that then enriches them in the private sector — feathering your nest.

And slam-dunked by the National Review:

It looks problematic for a crusader for small government to end up collecting a seven-figure paycheck from an endeavor that received a seven-figure subsidy, all set up by a program she signed into law.

Not exactly Lamestream Media territory here. How will Talibunny spin it?

“Any suggestion that I somehow did something wrong by signing this legislation is ludicrous. The accusation hinges on the notion that I signed the legislation into law knowing that it would personally benefit me. That’s absurd,” Palin said. “Obviously I had no intention of benefiting from it when I signed it into law in 2008 because I had no idea I would be involved in a documentary series years later.”

Well, um, two years later. But Point Palin: Nobody could have guessed that a celebrated governor and vice-presidential candidate would descend to a cable reality series so quickly. Next thing you know, Todd will be pitching Viagra.

The bloom was off the rose in December when her caribou “hunt” was shown on TV:

In this most recent episode, a woman who has blindly championed the NRA and legitimized her frontier-woman status by claiming to be a “lifelong hunter” comes across as anything but.

I dunno, the same way everything *else* conservatives whine about fits? “Subsidies for rich white people, fuck everybody else”…

Todd would be a perfect pitchman for Viagra. All they have to do is play a Sarah voice-over and people will be convinced that he uses it all the time…

@Tommmcatt is with Karin Marie on This One: I thought you’d say Todd would be a perfect catcher. What? Too hairy?

@Tommmcatt is with Karin Marie on This One: Heh. Have you seen this sweet thing? I tried to draw your attention to him a few days ago, but you must’ve been with your meat people or something.

ADD: Okay, this is pretty awesome as well.
