Georgia’s Bobby Franklin, Scourge of Driver’s Licenses

“Free people have a common law and constitutional right to travel on the roads and highways that are provided by their government for that purpose. Licensing of drivers cannot be required of free people, because taking on the restrictions of a license requires the surrender of an inalienable right.” [CBS Atlanta, via Political Wire]

Aw yes, but someone incapable of handling 2D motion doesn’t have the right to T-bone my car and kill me either or do they?

By his lojikc I’m going to interpret it means I have the “right” to turn my Honda Civic into a Mad Max mobile complete with a mounted.50 caliber M-2 Machine gun and flamethrower that I can use anyone on the road who pisses me off… um, not that I’ve put any serious thought into this or anything.

I predict that within two weeks a teabagger will say that compulsory primary education is unconstitutional. Not going to guarantee it will be a Member of Congress, however…

A Teabagger who is perfectly content with the federal and state governments spending public money to build roads but not having any control over how they are used after they’re built? Didn’t Ayn Rand write that if you want to get someplace build your own damn road? And you’re also responsible for clearing off the snow.

@TJ/ Jamie Sommers /TJ:
Are you sure that Arizona doesn’t mean “White Somalia” in Spanish?

@ManchuCandidate: Close. Not Spanish exactly, more like “thick, stubborn motherfuckers” in Basque. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Arizona is a Basque-word state.
