Sarah Palin:

Our children will not have peace if politicos just capitalize on this to succeed in portraying anyone as inciting terror and violence.

Michelle Malkin:

The progressive “climate of hate:” An illustrated primer, 2000-2010

Glenn Reynolds, WSJ:

Shortly after November’s electoral defeat for the Democrats, pollster Mark Penn appeared on Chris Matthews’s TV show and remarked that what President Obama needed to reconnect with the American people was another Oklahoma City bombing. To judge from the reaction to Saturday’s tragic shootings in Arizona, many on the left (and in the press) agree, and for a while hoped that Jared Lee Loughner’s killing spree might fill the bill.

Bill Kristol:

Kristol said those who are blaming Palin, such as Paul Krugman of The New York Times, are practicing “McCarthyism.”

Mark Meckler, Tea Party Patriots:

“To see the left exploit this for political advantage — some people have no conscience,” Meckler said over the phone. “It’s genuinely revolting… I think it sinks to the level of evil.”

WorldNetDaily:

Assassin’s politics lean ‘left wing, quite liberal’

Retards, everyone fucking one of them.

And is anyone surprised? It’s what they always do: come out snarling. Dick Armey was doing it on Round Table right to Chistianne Amanpour’s face as she was reporting live from Tucson. The blood wasn’t even dry.

@Benedick: Right? There are good, decent Americans in this country, and then there is the right wing.

@Tommmcatt is with Karin Marie on This One: And that’s exactly what the right-wingers say, except they swap left for right. I’m going for a new one: There are a few decent Americans in this country, then there’s every other goddamn jackass with a shortage of braincells and an engorged fear gland.

Pity we keep electing people of the second type to positions of power.

But don’t look at the chyron for what it’s about. Weird, isn’t it?

I’m gonna exercise my God Privilege for a moment…

This is a registration mark, also known as a “printing target” — something intimately familiar to designers, and here generated by InDesign page-layout software. It’s used in multi-color printing to align different inks on a sheet of paper — most commonly Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black for “full-color” printing.

The argument that The Designer Did It, while specious (client always gets final approval), does have some basis in reality. If asked to create “crosshairs”, a registration mark wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

The Palin Sockpuppet missed her opportunity when she called them “Surveyor’s Symbols”. Most designers wouldn’t know what the hell that means.

Breaking/ DeLay to the Hole:

DeLay Sentenced to Prison/politicalwire.com

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) was sentenced to three years in prison.

Austin American Statesman: “The three-year sentence was on the charge of conspiring to launder corporate money into political donations during the 2002 elections. On the charge of money laundering, DeLay was sentenced to five years but that was probated for 10 years.”

@nojo: The argument that The Designer Did It, while specious almost always true (client always gets final approval), does have some basis in reality. If asked to create “crosshairs”, a registration mark wouldn’t be a bad place to start.

Fixed for accuracy.

Roger Ailes:

I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually. You don’t have to do it with bombast. I hope the other side does that.

Since I live a Fox-Free Life, I’ll wait for somebody else to do the video roundup.

George Will chimes in…

Demystification of the world opened the way for real science, including the social sciences. And for a modern characteristic. And for charlatans…

This McCarthyism of the left — devoid of intellectual content, unsupported by data — is a mental tic, not an idea but a tactic for avoiding engagement with ideas.

Yes, that George Will: Man of Science, Climate-Change Denier.

@karen marie has her eyes tight shut: Took some tracking, but that screenshot’s from Yahoo News, since corrected.

Also, did you mean the wingnut Examiner instead of the progressive Independent?

I can’t confirm independently, but Keef sez this is the mugshot.

Yikes!

Add: Confirmed. Ho-lee shee-it.

@nojo: Oh that’s impressive.

I think George Will is Peggy Noonan. They both have the same way of deploring.

Oh, and since everybody else is mentioning it today…

Loughner didn’t retreat. He reloaded.

@nojo: Jesus H. Christ, that smile is almost as creepy as Tom DeLay’s shit-eating grin in his mugshot.

@SanFranLefty: Uncle Fester has also been mentioned on the Twitters.

And the meme comes to a head in a post title I won’t bother to link:

“Jared Loughner is a product of Sheriff Dupnik’s office”

By the way, “all of them” is not an option in this year’s State Most Welcome to Secede balloting.

@nojo: I like Mom’s new hairdo.

Hey — does anyone watch Tweety anymore? My buddy is supposed to be on tonight.

@nojo: No, I attributed it to WA Independent by googling “Rachel Rose Hartman,” the author.

@nojo: “By the way, “all of them” is not an option in this year’s State Most Welcome to Secede balloting.”

How about “the Confederacy plus Arizona, Utah, and Idaho”?

@karen marie has her eyes tight shut: Problem solved! She now works at Yahoo News, the source of the misprint. (Yahoo doesn’t play the Fox game, so I’m calling it a misprint.)

Yahoo’s been beefing up their blogging staff lately — Politico’s Michael Calderone now works there as well, and really hacks up the joint.

@SanFranLefty: Fake Awards Are About Making Hard Choices.

@SanFranLefty: @nojo: At this point, I’m looking at it from the reverse: CA, OR, and WA west of the Cascades/Sierras are welcome to secede and either join Canada, or petition Her Majesty to accept us as a commonwealth country.

Re: WND “Assassin’s politics lean ‘left wing, quite liberal’”

What really pisses me off is that this shit gets repeated enough by these assholes that it becomes a factoid that gets repeated by the mainstream press and eventually joe public as the gospel truth. I wish some librul with the press’s ear would go on and on about what lying cynical pricks these right wing assholes are. Repeat it to the press over and over, day after day: “you know these guys lie to you and expect you to keep repeating their lies. Go research it and you’ll see. Maybe spend some of your personal time on it. God knows, know your boss won’t pay for your time to do this, but these wackos are just making you look like fools you know.”

And, of course, there are countless examples of cross-haired-maps, “reload” quotes, and sociopathic talking heads to point to in support of the argument that it was the libruls that loaded that “kill” message into his diseased brain.
Aren’t there?

Question: what was the last political assassination/attempt carried out by someone who wasn’t fucking nuts? I say it was those four Puerto Rican guys who stormed the Blair House in the 50s when Truman was there as a statement for independence.

I look forward to the likely play for an insanity defense.

The kid’s ravings were rhetorically identical to Beck and Palin who are free, or furloughed or something.

Their ideologically identical. Kid just doesn’t have a book deal.

@redmanlaw: I’m gonna guess Wallace. Squeaky presumably doesn’t count.

The Singularity approaches:

WikiLeaks staff and contributors have also been the target of unprecedented violent rhetoric by US prominent media personalities, including Sarah Palin, who urged the US administration to “Hunt down the WikiLeaks chief like the Taliban”. Prominent US politician Mike Huckabee called for the execution of WikiLeaks spokesman Julian Assange on his Fox News program last November, and Fox News commentator Bob Beckel, referring to Assange, publicly called for people to “illegally shoot the son of a bitch.” US radio personality Rush Limbaugh has called for pressure to “Give [Fox News President Roger] Ailes the order and [then] there is no Assange, I’ll guarantee you, and there will be no fingerprints on it.”, while the Washington Times columnist Jeffery T. Kuhner titled his column “Assassinate Assange” captioned with a picture Julian Assange overlayed with a gun site, blood spatters, and “WANTED DEAD or ALIVE” with the alive crossed out.

And, the kicker:

“We call on US authorities and others to protect the rule of law by aggressively prosecuting these and similar incitements to kill. A civil nation of laws can not have prominent members of society constantly calling for the murder and assassination of other individuals or groups.”

@nojo: The problem is, it is against Australian law to threaten an Australian citizen (which Assange is) in this manner, and yet our PM and Diplomatic Corps remain silent on this issue.

Ahhh realpolitick, the best lube for being fucked-over.
