Stinque Cooking Update: I have SFL’s Texas chili simmering on the stove. BTW, Lefty, I didn’t know if your recipe meant regular paprika or smoked paprika so I used one Tbsp of each. Used “very hot” New Mexico chili powder and Ancho chili powder (1 T each) but blanched a bit at the 1 T of red pepper flakes–only used about 1/2 T. I will report on the outcome. It smells great.

@Mistress Cynica: Link to recipe? I’m going to try it to see if it beats my own method.

It’s actually posted on that same thread. And it’s unanimous here: Best chili Mr Cyn and I have ever had. Kudos, Lefty.

@Mistress Cynica: Oh yeaaaahhh! It’s an amalgam of my family’s recipe crossed with Lady Bird Johnson’s recipe and the old school chili recipe in this awesome Tex-Mex Cookbook that helps walk me through so many recipes of my childhood.

@SanFranLefty: I’m gonna make it later this week with either ground turkey or MorningStar Farms “beef” crumbles. Will let you know how it turns out.
