West End Blues

What else can we say?

Thanks for the nice start to the day. It’s especially enjoyable since I’m reading Mezz Mezzrow’s Really the Blues. He brings out the joy of hearing jazz for the first time (in his case, a Chicago reform school in 1916) and how annoying the sound was to people who were used to Victor Herbert and John Phillip Sousa. And then there were the muggles as well as smoking opium with the Purple Gang.
