Channel One Suite

Yes, I know, it starts with one of Buddy’s GI Jazz breaks but you get into the story about 1:02. He was signing the checks, after all.

Part 2 of the recording is here.

Patton Oswalt tweeted a Jack Teagarden reference today. I was very impressed.

@nojo: he is also on a tear to get Tatiana Maslany an Emmy for Orphan Black. And he’s right – she is excellent.

@blogenfreude: Hell yes. She’s played like six different characters on Orphan Black and frequently played one character believably impersonating several of the others. My mind is totally blown, and she certainly deserves awards for pulling off a seemingly impossible role.

@¡Andrew!: thinking of putting her in as my celebrity free pass (replacing Salma Hayek) … good idea?

@blogenfreude: She’s got a slammin’ bod, so no argument here. I’ll take Dylan Bruce and his sweet buns of steel, thank you.

BTW, he’s a local for me. Born in Vansterdam, raised in Seattle, UW grad. Ladies and gay Stinquers, please try not to go insane from jealously when I inevitably end up in a Joel McHale/Dylan Bruce sandwich.

@Benedick: What band? What era? He had a long tenure in a lot of acts.

@¡Andrew!: Oh my, buns of steel indeed. And I love to see a still from a movie where for once the female character is fully dressed while the man is nekkid.

Meanwhile, are folks interested in a Mad Men season finale [east coast time, and live for those of us on the West coast with cable] open thread?

@FlyingChainSaw: It would have been late 70s early 80s I think.

@Benedick: Holy crap. Your dad played in this era of Rich bands. Just the West Side Story suite was worth the price of admission. What did he play?

@FlyingChainSaw: Baritone/tenor/bass clarinet. I don’t know how long he played with his band. He also played with Woody Hermann and the Wynton Marsalis jazz orchestra.
