How Many Wives Do I Have to Cheat to Get An Oscar Qualification Around Here?

Dinesh D’Souza on his Obama Derangement Fantasia being snubbed: “I want to thank the Academy for not nominating our film. By ignoring 2016, the top-performing box-office hit of 2012, and pretending that films like Searching for Sugar Man and This Is Not a Film are more deserving of an Oscar, our friends in Hollywood have removed any doubt average Americans may have had that liberal political ideology, not excellence, is the true standard of what receives awards.” [Hollywood Reporter]

It’s called The Market, asswipe. If you don’t like how free markets operate then get a job where you don’t have to deal with them. Like be an unlettered right-wing pundit living off think tank money… oh wait.

And speaking of Hollywood. You do not want to get Ari Emmanuel riled up. You just don’t. Fuck the Kraken. He is one badass hymie homey.

I know. I’m humiliated. That such a thing should even cross my mind. I’m as appalled as you. I still think it’s funny but clearly I’m wrong and should immediately sign up for sensitivity training. I will eat Israeli fallafel as penance. My sincerest apologies.

Wondering why 2016 didn’t get n Oscar nod is a bit like wondering why the latest “Moon Landing Hoax” documentary didn’t get nominated. It didn’t get nominated because the documentary category is for works of non fiction, not absurdly fantastical conspiracy theories reflecting little more than the author’s tenuous grasp of reality.

Well, I’m sure Atlas Shrugged can still win something?

@Marcel Parcells: I just looked at boxofficemojo to see how big a bomb AS Part II has been compared to the disaster AS Part I was last year. I was gobsmacked to read that this movie series is a TRILOGY. Since Parts I & II each cost around $20 million to make and grossed a minute fraction of its cost and have no foreign distribution I wonder if there is a stampede of financial backers for Part III.

¡Holy frijoles!

The Mexican Supreme Court just legalized marriage equality for their entire country.

¡Viva!

Now which country can KKKonservatards turn to? Which one has the bravery to come begging for us to send them our Right-Wing Nutjobs, our Neo-Fascist Crackers, our Hate-Crazed Submorons?

@Dave H:

Aren’t these movies mostly being funded by one guy? I feel that’s what I read once.

@Dave H:

Seems really odd that a bunch of Randroids would foot the bill for a movie, *knowing* they had no chance of making the $$$ back. Awfully ALTRUISTIC…

@Andrew: Now the GOP can do “outreach”; if they time it just right, they can deport all the Mexicans who hate gays so much that they fled to the US – but right AFTER they vote for Frothy Mix in 2016. :)
