Secret Little Ricky YouTube Ad

This creepy Santorum video is hidden – you have to have the link to find it – and the comments are disabled.

He really thought we wouldn’t find it?

This would be pretty easy to fix. Just strip out the entire soundtrack and replace it with the Andy Griffith Show theme song. Obama could run this ad.

@libertarian tool: found out it’s against the terms of service to copy it to a YouTube channel where the comments are enabled, but never thought of changing the soundtrack. If only the GF would steal Final Cut Pro from work like I keep asking her to ….

That was all over the place yesterday — folks figured that the Ahmadinejad-Barry switch was deliberate publicity trolling. If it’s “hidden” now, the horses are long out the barn door.

@nojo: It ain’t exactly subliminal. But I did LOL at the gas-nozzle-as-gun-to-the-head imagery, so it’s got that going for it.

@nojo: some pretty serious bloggers I know had not seen it, so the change must have happened fast ….

@blogenfreude: Let’s see, where did I find it…

Ah. Weigel:

My theory: This is Umbrage Bait, with the goal of bringing the Obama campaign into a discussion of how, no, it’s totally unfair to compare him to Iran’s quasi-elected president. An easy Santorum campaign riposte would be that the ad doesn’t compare them — the flash-flash is meant to show how Obama let the situation go pear-shaped.

He posted that Friday afternoon. But maybe he just got to it first.

@mellbell: @nojo: @blogenfreude: Who knew that Steve Jobs’ reality distortion field lives on in Rick Santorum? If gas prices and a nuclear Iran are the best you got against Black Eagle then, fuck yeah!

@nojo: Sad that Slate has become such a haven for awful opinions and bad writing. I gave it up years ago, 2001 to be precise.

@blogenfreude: Like Sully, Weigel’s good for keeping an eye on The Other Guys. And he only landed at Slate after being bumped from WaPo post-JournoList.

Also, Weigel’s a Libertarian like Sully’s a conservative: Not like the rest of the lot. So their perspectives are useful as well. I don’t need a bunch of Lefties telling me what I already know.

@nojo: Sully is a Tory – read driftglass and he will tell you all you need to know about him.

@blogenfreude: Driftglass on Sully on Beinart is too meta for me. It’s convoluted enough as it is.

But I’ve been reading Sully almost four years now, so it’s not like I’m lacking for data.
