It Is to Laff

Like an endorsement from a guy who helped ruin our economy will help: “The Gingrich campaign has announced that they have received the endorsement of Arthur Laffer, “father of The Laffer Curve and supply-side economics, and architect of the Ronald Reagan economic plan.” Laffer will appear with Gingrich later today in Iowa.” [TPM]

CNN reports “Santorum surging in Iowa.” Kudos to the editors.

@Dodgerblue: I thought it didn’t surge so much as … dribble. And WTF? Does each sociopath (except Mittens) get a turn at the helm? Shouldn’t that ship have crashed onto the rocks already?

@blogenfreude: Think of it as a limbo dance. How low can they go?

Remember, the people being polled:

1. Are Republicans
2. Live in Iowa
3. Stay in Iowa in winter
4. Are willing to answer stupid poll questions

I’m surprised Mallard Fillmore hasn’t cracked the top three.

I figured the wingnuts had throw Laffer out the window a while ago – thirty years of slashing rates has pretty firmly established that (if his theory has any credibility whatsoever) we’re on the *upward*-sloping side of the maximum…

@blogenfreude: It’s amazing to me just how frivolous our much vaunted Values Voters are. Lady Gaga’s fans are steadfast while the fundies rush about Iowa City shrieking about how Bachmann Perry Cain Gingrich Cap’n Crunch is the new Big Thing. Their attention span seems to last about 15 days.

@Benedick:
Mel Brooks and gang said it best almost 40 years ago…

“You’ve got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know… morons.”
