Mitt Romney Inhales

Okay, fine, that’s a coplutocrat from Mitt’s salad days at Bain Capital sucking down the legal tender. We’ve just never seen Mitt so, y’know, comfortable with himself.

TJ/ There is an Occupy protest across the street. I’m going back with a proper camera.

Are there any questions/comments from the floor?

@JNOV: What do they want, and how do they propose to get it?

Fuckers like Romney and outfits like Bain Capital, speculating on the market and inventing shit financial instruments, are the reason that last year I made 60 percent of what I made in 2009. They belong in jail.

@JNOV: Ask them what kind of pizza they want and I’ll send some. 99% Rulez!!!

@blogenfreude: I think you just answered dodgey’s question.

@Dodgerblue: Yeah. I’m going to send Nojo the pics, and WHYY (PBS) was there. Going to email the reporter some pics, too. And I really hope to catch the interview with the homeless man wearing a donated ING T-shirt berating the Occupy folks. I couldn’t hear him all that well, but I think he was a little confused about the idea of why govt exists.

The interesting this is that I’m in Wilmington, DE, and I guess most of you guys know why that’s a big deal. I saw a bunch of contrasts/contradictions/am one myself. I’ll see if Nojo wants to make something out of it. Might end up on I Fight the DJ as well.

Mittens Romney and the Six Douchebags… Jerky, Skeevy, Sleazy, Dorky, Toady and Short Round.

@JNOV: I’ve played Wilmington. At the lovely DuPont Theatre.

For the love of money is the root of all evil.

@Bene: I played at the DuPont myself. All I have to show for it is a missing earring, a lost train ticket, and maybe some self-respect.

@JNOV: Who needs self-respect? Life is so much easier without.

@mellbell: It certainly is the root of our current political malaise.

@ManchuCandidate: Now I’m wondering what the rides would be at Six Douchebags Over Texas.

@JNOV: I’ll pass on photos. Still can’t get myself worked up over Occupymania.

And since I’m still on Deadline: Impossible, and I’m not finding a moment to think through it for a post, here’s the thing: What made Teabaggers effective wasn’t the Fox-promoted gatherings, but their effect at the ballot box, and now on the GOP primaries. And they were effective at the ballot box because nobody else voted during the midterms.

I’ll accept all arguments about the futility of voting, but if you don’t do at least that, all your protests are just yesterday’s cable news. Show me where your movement gains traction, or even how it might, and I’ll pay it some respect. Otherwise it’s all just moral preening.

@Dodgerblue: Sounds like a brief we were writing. “Hey — this situation is fucked up and really needs to be fixed, but we have no idea what relief should look like.”

@nojo: Cool. Cool. What would trigger the Nojo Interest Meter?

ADD: Belay my last: Show me where your movement gains traction, or even how it might, and I’ll pay it some respect. Otherwise it’s all just moral preening.

@mellbell: Here in Northern New Mexico, we have an evil that has nothing to do with money. It’s fueled by hate.

@Dodgerblue: @nojo: I was witness to The Gathering in DC, because they chose a place directly in front of my office. After the first day’s march, it’s now down to about 40 or so. The Park Police are afraid to rout them and cause a scene. There was the ubiquitous Ron Paul drum circle, which made laugh.

The thing that killed me was that the DuPont had a policeman at the entrance.
