Don’t Tempt Us
Our guest columnist is Michelle Obama.
Every day, I see Barack make choices he knows will affect every American family. That’s no small task for anyone — and more proof that he’s earning every last one of those gray hairs.
This has been a busy week in Washington, but today happens to be Barack’s 50th birthday. I’m writing to you because this year, the girls and I would like to do something a little different.
I’m asking friends and supporters of this campaign to wish him a happy birthday by signing his card, and sharing why you’re on this journey with us.
Your names and notes will become part of a book that tells the story of this campaign — who’s building it, why we’re in this thing, and what he means to us. We’ll deliver a copy to Barack and send one to our campaign offices across the country.

“I’m on this journey because you pretended to be someone entirely different, someone who believed in the things I believed in and who would really bring about that ‘change’ you talked of som much. Of course, you were just lying to get what you wanted, like all the other men. I thought you were different. I trusted you. Now I don’t trust anyone. 30 years of therapy, down the drain. I hope you’re happy.”
@Mistress Cynica: As Douglas Adams (I think) said, on no account should anyone be allowed to be president who wants the job.
Edit: Ah, here’s the actual quote:
Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
“May the 2012 election restore some of the Hope that I felt in January 2009. My hope was for a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Lately I see nothing but government of the powerful, by the powerful, and for the powerful in all three branches. Maybe someday you will remember the people you used to help back when you were a community organizer.”
Of course, submitting your message takes you directly to the page where you can contribute to the campaign. Thanks Michelle for yet another bait and switch. What a shock.
@IanJ: Groucho lives!
Barak’s response will be taken from the oeuvre of Rage Against the Machine: “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me.”
@Mistress Cynica: +1
Also, “Give me back the 47 year old Barry. He could still get it up.”
